Darn. That was a good day. I just LOVE pastures. Usually no commercial fertilizer like ag land. Sometimes minimal cultivation to damage artifacts. That 2 cent piece is a beauty!!! Then throw in the Indian and Barber. That is 2 of my favorite coins and one of my bucket lister’s in ONE...

Identification of what my wife believes isn't a rock

Olivine is a mineral which could be a part of the source rock. Basalt sometimes contains olivine along with other minerals like pyroxene and plagioclase feldspar.

Identification of what my wife believes isn't a rock

I believe so. The columnar shape is caused by molten(igneous) rock(basalt) when it cools. Then that rock could be subjected to intense heat and pressure creating a hornfel which is metamorphic rock. Much like slate is created by subjecting shale to extreme heat and pressure. This is just my...

Identification of what my wife believes isn't a rock

This is one of the reasons I felt it could be a hornfel as it can be formed from an igneous rock such as basalt. I am confident it is not basalt but could very well be a metamorphic rock created from it. The grain structure appears to be altered via metamorphism. Another indicator is...

Identification of what my wife believes isn't a rock

Possibly a Green Hornfel rock. It is a metamorphic rock formed from intense heat and pressure. Common protoliths that can produce green hornfels include sedimentary rocks such as shale and sandstone, as well as igneous rocks like basalt and granite.

    Manticore Tones

Me either😡. Try to watch his screen and pickup in some things but haven’t been able to discern much. But darn he does find some amazing stuff. A lot of silver that is thin and delicate. Wish he would do a setup video.

    Manticore Tones

Check out “Digging Deep Detecting” on YouTube. I don’t know what settings he is using but he finds some of the smallest silver fur trade items I have ever seen. Small wire crosses, ear rings, necklaces, etc. Hits that are deep and his Manti seems to slam them.

    Pennie’s, Pennie’s, Pennie’s…🤨

The hope, and I realize this may not come to fruition, is that because they are no longer being produced the prohibition for melting cents will be dropped. The sole reason for the prohibition is so not to deplete the economy of its small coinage leading to a shortage. But with them no longer...

    Pennie’s, Pennie’s, Pennie’s…🤨

One caveat for digging cents is that if they are pre 1982 they are worth close to $.04. If precious metals continue to rise might become more beneficial in the future. Don’t know the ratio of zinc-copper you are digging as the places I hunt are almost exclusively pre 1982 and copper cents.

Did he ever say if it tested positive for rabies or anything else?

    Manticore Tones

I ordered my Manticore with the 9”. Put it on right away and never have used the stock coil. Right or wrong I mimicked what I did with my etrac and the 6x8sef. I did try the stock coil on my etrac but the sef blew it away on separation in iron and was comparable in depth. After hearing...
