ANYONE HAVE ANY FEEDBACK ON THE TESORO MAYAN

I purchased my first detector (original Tesoro El Dorado) back in 1987 from a metal detector dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a nugget-shooter using the original Fisher Gold Bug and his wife loved swinging her Tesoro Mayan. He had trays of gold nuggets he had found in NW Arizona and she found...

    Well life rolls on

Thanks Mary as that confirms the last word I heard about the Mojave coil. I know how the Tesoro coil differs somewhat from the Troy coil but have never used a Mojave configured coil. Really sad that the sun finally sat on Tesoro cause they were built solid and hard to beat in the trash :>)

    Well life rolls on

Robert some years back my hunting partner used a Fisher CZ-20 so I know about Fishers depth reputation and I don't dispute it :>) I can honestly say that when hunting junky areas more times than not the Tesoro had the edge. While searching really junky areas (where most of my hunts are) depth is...

    Well life rolls on

Sounds like the Mojave will be the rarest Tesoro to find in the future. What was the final general consensus regarding the stock coil that came with the Mojave...did it at all resemble the Troy Shadow X2 7" concentric coil?

    Found a bunch of these?

I use to hunt around an old WW1 training camp and found some brass ones of different sizes. That style tensioner was used during CW era but not sure about being brass?

    Unexpected fossil find.

Sometimes "mother nature" can create some bizarre shapes into what I call a geofact.....not saying that's what it is...but just a possibility??

    Coil cord care

Not sure if this would work but maybe worth a try...pick up a can of Flex-Seal and give it a shot?

What has been your # 1 detector in years passed

Back around 2006 I picked up a Tesoro Bandido (1st version) that is a "closet queen" and love hunting with it to this day. The control box was placed under the arm near the arm-cuff so the balance is perfect and light. I also like to use a Troy Shadow X2 at times when hunting junky public type...

Never really heard too much about the Blisstool V5. No screen to scroll through on that one to make adjustments...knobs and toggles which would suit me fine!

    Well life rolls on

I've always wanted to try a Nautilus (supposedly one of the deepest in it's day) but had gotten spoiled on lighter weight Tesoro's. Like the OP stated (original poster) I also really miss the old Tesoro and Shadow forums from the past but like he said...Life rolls on...hopefully. Ha!

    Today's Visual ID technology

In the past I have read more than once to dig ALL signals when nugget detecting because gold can mimic small trash iron signals at times. Sometimes when hunting close in and around the actual mining camp itself digging it all is not feasible. My question is...are todays more recent VLF gold...

Riffles versus expanded metal for sluice-box?

I plan on classifying my material down to at least 1/4" so would expanded metal work as well as small riffles or should I use both? The area will also more than likely be heavy with black sands so I was thinking of running miners moss over some vortex to keep from loading up mat with black sand...

    Curious question...

Never seen one posted before but has anyone out there ever found a Boyd Battery pendant?? Years ago I found one while hunting an old neighborhood from the late 1800's and at the time wondered what it was?? Some time later while reading an issue of a Treasure magazine I learned that it was a...

    Protection from "valley fever"?

I have a virgin older model (late 90's-2000) mid-size Gold Buddy drywasher (blower-type) that I want to use in the near future and need to know the proper type of dust-mask to use for staying away from "valley fever"? I bought this new in Prescott Valley Arizona but at the time I was so addicted...

    "Hot" circuitry question

Does a "Hot" circuitry designed Tesoro detector require a 4-pin coil set-up and if so why? The only reason I can think of is somehow maybe more gain can be achieved by using a 4-pin designed coil:shrug: My LST and Diablo both utilize 4-pin coils and they do have more built-in gain versus my...
