    Civil war ammunition

Shooting tradition? I live in a county thats rich in hunting history, I myself used to shoot through the winter, mostly wildfowl, no we are not all personally armed, but thats the laws for you in the UK. As regards the original topic, someone has suggested that the shot was being made on the...

    Civil war ammunition

Thanks for the above, but this now begs another question, my own personal count is just short of 60, another detectorist gave up on the site as in his words "4 out of 5 signals were bloody musket balls" he has over 200, again in the condition as above photo.

    Civil war ammunition

Good point about the ramrod, guess it would deform the tip. But on a round ball maybe not so much.

    Civil war ammunition

Please bear with me.. I'm detecting a site here in the UK that supposedly had a civil war (1642-51) skirmish on it. This has been documented by historians but there's no mention as to how long it lasted. There was a fortified manor/farm on the site with a moat, over the years a significant...

    Tiny silver buckle

Actually now you come to mention it....but really it does beg the question were these functional or decorative, and how were they fastened to a strap?

    Tiny silver buckle

Probably my best find of the year came up yesterday, solid silver that had been gilded, dates too late 14th early 15th century

    D2 can slaw question

That's a neat little trick to try.

    Deus 2 and 4khz.

I maybe should have stated that the sites I have in mind have had no modern intervention in the last 150 years or so, whilst not devoid of the odd bit of trash, I can run pretty wide open, have reached the limit I think with settings I'm running, hence the 4khz thoughts.

    Deus 2 and 4khz.

Have been using relic mostly, and just of late trying deep hc, have an 11" coil fitted and yesterday for the hell of it, disciplined myself to using mono and 4khz, this threw up a few interesting variables. If I ground balance it picks up coke and hot rocks, leave gb at standard and it doesn't...

Hope its a performance/dedicated machine, not just half hearted effort.

D2 9 inch coil battery life

    15" minelab or coiltek?

Am looking at a well used 800 cheap as its got no coil, will not be my main detector so am just going to put a big coil on it for pasture, any opinions on which one?

    CZ 5 recovery speed

    Relic mode users

I can see where you're coming from, but again it is down to tones, even though I dont usually hunt by numbers, I had a cracking hammered silver coin come in at a solid smooth 81, later in the day another repeatable 81 but really harsh in tone, sure enough a piece of rounded cast iron about the...
