    Glad I dug!

Ronstar and I met up to hunt around where he found a Peace dollar yesterday. It was Etrac's turn, so promptly got to work-- today was going to be an 'iffy' signal day. 4 hours later, had a Merc and a war nickel in the pouch. Not going to bother with pics-- we all know what they look like...

    When the New Ctx Coming

Yep. As much as I prefer my ctx over the nox-- the cost savings adds up to more mercs than I'll probably find in my lifetime.

Help Me Choose Which Detector to Buy.

Different soils... whatever. Like Elmy, I'm going to sell the Nox. It finds silver, but also leaves it in the ground. Found a merc coin spill with the nox-- took two mercs out of the hole. Hunted a 10x15' section from 6 pts of the compass, going slow. Went over the plug many times...

Help Me Choose Which Detector to Buy.

My kid swinging an ATPro beat the pants off of my Nox 800 yesterday-- it found targets the Nox wouldn't even give an iffy signal on-- on any setting. Get a machine you won't outgrow if you get serious about the hobby. You will outgrow a cheap machine.

    Another killer Eagle

This is one I found a few weeks ago that is similar to yours. Not trying to hijack, but interested in dates, if anybody knows.

    Here, Here or Here

Fwiw, I have a hell of a time pinpointing with the nox -- my plugs are 30% bigger than my etrac. In my soil, I don't even look at the depth gauge anymore. On the beach, I'll pull often pull out my pinpointer first, to see if I can locate it that way, before scooping.

    What a beauty

I found a button like this recently, except with an I. I assume it was lost turn of the century, and the I stands for infantry.

Oldest Buff plus a Tax token.

Tax tokens... (spit). Cool for your first. Major letdowns in the PNW, when you think you have a silver dime/quarter in the hole.

    My Nox won today!!

I wonder what the SE would have said over it... I should spend a day digging the iffiest of iffy signals and see what happens-- besides a sore arm. Good find.

    The Nox lost today...

Fwiw, with the ctx I pretty much use ground coin exclusively.

Two silver day turned into a really weird three silver day!

I never thought this would happen to me-- Boy #1's birthday, didn't think I'd get out. He got his birthday breakfast then took off for work. What the hell, off I went, didn't think Ronstar was going to go out, so didn't bother him. Just started hitting my usual haunt, when a kid comes flying...

    The Nox lost today...

@Ted-- it has found me silver too. What I'm trying to figure out is how much, if any, silver is the Nox leaving in the dirt. I'm not crapping on it. This last experiment was really troubling-- and a 4" seated quarter that gave an iffy signal, that had it been the end of the day I would...

    The Nox lost today...

Lol, dammit Elmy, I'm in my mid 50's-- I don't remember squat anymore.

    The Nox lost today...

Agreed fw, but in this case there is a difference between missing something because you missed it and your detector not registering it. That's all I'm saying: in this outing I missed things, somehow, because the coil didn't go over the top of the target. The most important find however, the...

    The Nox lost today...

@gun-- yah, thinking about selling mine. God, I love the weight, but it's big fail was the 'promise' of it making old ground new again. The Nox isn't a crappy detector. Not hating on it-- it has found me silver. However, actual experimentation leads me to believe it isn't as good as the...

    The Nox lost today...

@Big-- I ran each frequency in Park 1 and 2, then multi in the rest. What is weird, is that just 40 yards away, the nox found a rosie (6"), a seated quarter (4") and a Merc (5"). It was very iffy on that seated. What I'm trying to understand is under what conditions is the machine not...

    The Nox lost today...

Yesterday evening went back to a usual haunt and wandered with the 800-- park1 Andy S. I hit a wheat, then gridded out from there until dusk-- total of 4 wheats and misc clad. Wasn't until I got home that I discovered one of those wheats was a '06 Indian. Damned cool, as I haven't found many...

Thought I was diggin a quarter, but almost better!

Don't forget my WA state tax token, Ronstar! FYI-- these tax tokens are a running gag/joke with us-- a 'you've got to be shitting me' find. In our soil, they are always toast.

    My first good beach find!

    Sweet!

    One way signals

Clarification-- Seated Liberty Quarter. It's a big country, these United States. Lots of different soil and conditions. Just saying it would behoove all Nox users to check those 90 deg one-way repeatable signals once in awhile. The Nox is an interesting machine. Not hating on it, but...
