    CTX battery charger question

Well I hope I don't win a dunce cap and have to sit in the corner for this colossal mistake but....... I am not home to defend my gear each week and as a result all the support gear for my detector (charger, power adapter, spare battery, cables) got scattered to the 4 winds by my granddaughters...

WTT for Grey Ghost CTX waterproof headphones

It's that time of year. The season is coming to a close for folks in the cold winter regions. Since I am in Southern Cal my season is a bit longer so I am looking for some waterproof phones for my CTX. I prefer the Grey Ghost phones and I am not to excited about the others (just being honest)...

    Noisy CTX - Normal?

For the last few days my week old CTX has been getting VERY noisy. I have not had it long enough to know what is, and isn't "normal," but it is so chattery that it is difficult to tell what is going on. For example: 1st case: I tried my front yard and from one week to the next (Thurs 2nd, then...

WTT for CTX 3030 COMPATIBLE Waterproof Headphones

Now I have the CTX, but there wasn't enough left in my budget to get the headphones so I can start getting wet. The season is coming, so here is the deal. As hobby I buy damaged iPods, Camcorders, Digital Cameras, Laptops, and other portable electronics. I then repair them and barter them, or...

I can see where I will need CTX cliff notes coming from a VDI world

Well the CTX arrived today. I spent an hour running it in the yard with sample targets and then spent 45 minutes in a park I have hunted with 3 different detectors and gave up on this winter because the returns were so few. But with this machine and very little experience I found 5 coins and 2...

    I miss my polar plot!

Well the CTX arrived today and I took it out for the first time. Sure do miss the analysis tools I had with the V3i, because I used them. I still like the CTX, but those of you that said so were right........I will own another V3i in the not too distant future. They will be stable mates in my...

Making the transition to the CTX from a V3i

Ok, ready or not, here I come!! :yikes: I truly love my V3i but I'm packing the box right now and shipping it off as a trade-in for a CTX standard package. (stopping to wipe away tears and blow my nose) I'm not going to discuss the deal I am getting because I know it is good, and I promised...

    How's the sunray?

Must be my detector. Because if I don't do a new ground balance after using the probe my machine will NOT instantly settle down. Don't forget that multiple factors impact your ability to auto balance. Here in Cali the soil is highly mineralized and I have no doubt that is a huge factor....jeesh...

    How's the sunray?

I have a DX-1 that I love but I may be parting with soon. It really is a fantastic tool and like you I got started with a pistol probe. The pluses are the PP has quite a bit of depth for a probe and it is easy to hear. I found the long reach on it very helpful when in deeper holes, although...

    Tracking causes noisy operation

I have a DX-1 pinpointer so it factors into the tracking I am sure. When I stop to dig I normally have to ground balance EVERY TIME to get the detector to "settle down." Maybe it is just very excited about what it just found I don't know!! LOL I know the operator is! The Shark

What were you guys using before you got the new Whites V models??

I got back into the hobby a few years back with a Garrett GTI 2500 I found used at a price to low to say no. I had a great time my first 9 months with that detector. The imaging concept behind that detector was very informative and in my experience quite accurate. My background is in technology...

My V3i seems unstable now, please help with settings

I'm getting into this a little late but I would bet hard currency it is a bad coil. Been there, done that, several times myself and Whites treated me like royalty! Give them a call, let them go through a couple things with you and they will take care of it! Good luck and don't loose faith in...

    Hitting the beach Monday

I'm just down the coast from you in Santa Monica. I have found the V3i to be very stable in the stock apps in dry sand. C&J for example with the stock 10 DD coil are quite stable and go deep on the So Cal beaches. Unfortunately there is a but coming.....but if you want to hunt the wet sand and...

    Gold Rings VS Pulltabs, Nickels

I agree - analyze first, dig second. Sounds like a beach sand digger to me. No offense intended, just commenting on the comment. The Shark

Hot in the desert, hot I tell you! But is cooling down somewhat now, so I will be more active until the daylight puts an end to the fun for a few months.......but I'll still be here! The Shark

Got a hat trick - 3 personal bests.

Rob, The 4x6 did not make the trip because is was malfunctioning back in California. I can tell you that I run ALL the programs stock with no changes most of the time. If I have any unusual activity with the detector the first thing I do - return to stock program settings. Kind of a running...

Got a hat trick - 3 personal bests.

Well after dreaming about getting back there I did late on a Thursday night. Had a tough time sleeping thinking about all the goodies I was going to find the next day before leaving for Calif on Saturday. I got out there at noon on Friday due to the heavy wind that morning that tapered off...

Got a hat trick - 3 personal bests.

April of last year as most of my friends here know, I got started in general purpose detecting after many years only using a gold detector prospecting. It started with a used Garrett GTI 2500 and once I was hooked in June 2011 I moved to a V3i. 2011 was a very good year. Over $100 in clad, 7...

will the solar flare affect my machine?

    What improvements????

First and foremost I love the detector NOW! But it can evolve into an even better unit. OK I'm a tech nerd and have been professionally for more than 30 years so I have an excuse..... 1. Time to take advantage of touchscreen technology and ditch the buttons. It would allow the pod to shrink...
