How many are using the Excallibur II ?

I put my Excal II away after I "fixed" it by replacing the battery wire and now not sure if it is waterproof anymore. But gave it up for the CTX 3030 w 17" coil 6 years ago and gave the CTX 3030 up 3 years ago for the Equinox 800 w 15" coil after I drowned the 3030 twice before the warranty...

    Another for the collection.

Stainless steel, Tungsten and Titanium wedding bands have found my coil around 18 times this year! The ones my wife don't want (ie don't fit her) I give away. But there are others out there waiting to be found - like the David Yurman 18K and forged carbon band I found 2 days ago. It actually...

    Multiple tabs in a hole

You didn't, by chance, put 13 beer bottle caps in a hole at Clearwater beach did ya? If so, I found them and they have set MY record for most beer caps in a single hole! :lmfao:

    14K white Gold ring

Nothing like being surprised when you get home and find out you struck gold! Can't tell you how many gold rings I've found in my "Junk", often revealing themselves after more cleaning or an acid test. Congrats on a nice looking ring.

What really helps those who can't get out to hunt

Like to put a smile on your face but I guess the gold caps are the best I can do from afar! :):) Gold triple crown was found this past week; I imagine a wader was hit from behind by a large breaker and spit-out the gold crown!!! The second, double gold crown, was found earlier this year and is...

    Windy, but mild hunt today....

I'll take that hunt any day of the week...or month...or year! Ring looks real good!

For the folks that go by the numbers...

Have 2 Nox 800s and have used extensively last 3 yrs including drowning first one twice. The Nox hits gold rings very hard and stable. I know if the VID jumps around and it is a strong signal 14 - 17 (but could jump 3-5 numbers w single swing) most likely a pull tab. Also, pull tab # will...

Back from the Tropics with Equinox 800

Not sure where this is coming from [gold rings at 19 tid]???? Gold rings will range from 3 - 24 (personal experience), typically, and reports have them coming in as low as 1 and as high as 26. Small gold rings (eg 1g) will ring in at low tid numbers like 5 and heavy gold rings will typically be...

How to and Pictures of repaired equinox coil.

I've done the same procedure on my Nox 15" coil. fyi I also know from personal experience that if you tighten the coil stiffener too tight it also will break...those washers leave much to be desired. Coil stiffeners are available for the Nox 11", 15" and CTX 3030 11" and 17" coils that I know of.

For the folks that go by the numbers...

As a beach hunter I regularly find gold rings throughout the range of VID #3-24, including nice gold rings in my pull tab range (14-16) and push tab range (16-17) in Beach 2. Many rings fall in the 11-13 range where my nickels reside (12-13). I get particularly excited when I hit a 11 or 12...

First Day Out With The Nox 800 - Question

Many pull tabs will give very strong signals (at #14 for me) but often bounce around quit a bit as you move the coil up and away. Push tabs are more stable and for me at Beach 2 run consistent at 17-18 and can be easily confused for zinc cents. Coins and rings (from #3-24) provide more stable...

Equinox hint #7 new user notes

Congrats on the Wheatie as they're getting scarce. Have found 470 cents so far this year (2022) and just yesterday found my second Wheatie for the year; a 1950D. Just happen to see the reverse in a bag of 470 mostly corroded zinc cents. Use to collect them and Indian head nickels as a kid...

Great finds. Those rings have been there for a long long time. Not surprised if 30-50 yrs given condition.

    Hundred Coin Day

It isn’t very often I have a 100+ coin day and the day was only 3 hrs long! But I’m more of a traditional water hunter where targets are far fewer and much further apart. Heck, I’ve gone at least ½ hour in the surf without a single solid signal at some very popular beaches! That’s another story...

    Help for coil ears

Exactly!! I broke an ear off a NOX 800 15" coil and off a CTX 3030 17" coil. Runs in the family. Coil stiffeners help in repair but don't answer the question of tightening the bolt tight enough so that the coil stays stable. Also guess what? I broke a coil stiffener as well! No S***! On the...

What should I ask for it?

As much as I'd like to say keep it or sell it for a lot more than spot, truth be told - most gold bands aren't worth more than spot. Finding a buyer for a "used" gold band is 1 in a 1000. I'd be sure to send it to a refinery where they'll pay 95% of spot (at delivery). Midwest Refineries come...

    Equinox 900

The NOX 800 and CTX 3030 are the same...at least in terms of their poor waterproofing - I've drowned both machines twice now (have had NOX for all most 3 yrs and CTX for 6) so for me they both suck the same in terms of water egress. But the NOX is a LOT lighter than the CTX for sure. SO, I'd...

    Equinox Locks up!!

I've own 2 NOX 800s and one for almost 3 yrs. Lots of beach hunting and have drowned the NOX twice. Your problem is definitely weird! Suggest a factory reset.
