    minelabs bad decision on coils

    The smaller the coil, the better for me. But then again I like looking for all those targets in between the junk with a small coil. One of my best finds ever was with a 5 inch coil right next to junk. I agree that they should come out with a 9 inch as stock coil, then if you wanted a bigger coil...

    Yes I always go to a dive shop or Big five sporting goods and get some dive boots. Something that keeps the sand and rocks out while in the water. They last me a number of years so if I have to pay a few extra bucks for a shoes that will be there for me always pays off.

    If you drew a line on a paper with a fine tipped pen, that is about the size of the chain. It gave me a reading like foil of 27 on the meter. My other machine I tried to find it with was the Minelab Nox 800 in multi freq.

    I was out with the xp deus 1 today HF 9x5 coil. Got a 27 reading and found a 10kt thin gold chain. After I got it home I ran it over my other metal detectors and they did not even see it !

    While out metal detecting I have come across several dogs, some small, others big. Do you think that maybe dogs can hear the metal detectors ? I know when we was kids sometimes someone would come up with a dog whistle, that only the dog could hear but we could not .

    Weight comparison

    I use the deus 1 with the remote on my arm with the hf 9x5 coil and so does my friend. The other day he put the 11 inch coil on his machine for 15 minutes, then told me that it was too heavy that he was going to get his hf 9x5 coil back on. Is the 11 inch on the deus 1 that much heavier ?

    Check with Richard at backwoods as I am sure he will steer you in the right direction. I just got a Minelab Equinox 800 and am happy with it. I was afraid of the Chinese knock-off or copies of the minlab I read about so I went with new. I know that what ever choice you make will be the right one...

    Shallow water hunt with the Equinox 800

    Thinking about taking the 800 for a water hunt, have they fixed know issues with the leaks ? Only going to take it wading and it is under warranty.
