Don’t make this (my) mistake with your new Minelab

I plan on trying my D2 in the ocean stateside. I replaced the lower rods with CF to avoid any flex.

Don’t make this (my) mistake with your new Minelab

I refer to each detector as a personal set of sports equipment when asked. The Nox is disassembled and in my carryon. The SeaHunter MK2 is packed with headphones, batteries and control unit in a well made black Garrett knapsack. The rods for it and all scoops are in the checked baggage. This is...

Don’t make this (my) mistake with your new Minelab

No issue but the importation of sports equipment in general. There was a limit of $600 per person sports equipment could be subject to duty. I’m now seeing a lower amount like $300. I’m having a hard time finding that $600 now. However a 19% duty on items on excess of the allowable limits can...

Don’t make this (my) mistake with your new Minelab

Just to be clear. Was the issue your dealer referred to - “non-responsive freezing up” or flooding?

Don’t make this (my) mistake with your new Minelab

I just posted a link to the video…. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1644UBobtk/?mibextid=wwXIfr After I got my EQX800 in 2018 I bought this 600 new 2/2020 for my wife to use and be involved as she likes the easy digging sugar sand fun and competition hunts. It’s a closet queen never having...

    Wireless Killer B’s

With the WM08 clipped on behind me I use the Grey Ghost NDT’s wirelessly. After the ML80 phones died I was using Miccus SR71 that I bought for my wife’s EQX 600. I like the GG’s much better unless it’s sweltering out.

Regarding the Lack of Finds on the Beach

I'll share this. Agreed the gold finds are sparse, certainly even compared to 7 or 8 years ago when detectors like the EQX were about to come online into our hobby. The proliferation all these TV detecting shows, YouTube and the hype and hoopla that has arisen led to a growth in detecting that...

    Deus 2 - Vdi scale

This subject mirrors my first impressions of the Equinox when released. Though the D2 is a “little” better in that area. I’ve adapted to all kinds of detectors and a few without any TID by trying to tune my ears. I’m an old Whites guy from 1986 and cherry picking the best conductors was easy if...

The New " Garrett Vortex" has been released!

I’m 100% onboard about what us V3i users wanted. I’m less impressed with the upgradable software config to gain the options and controls that I think should have been standard. I’m saying one version with it all would have sufficed. Garrett has plenty of lesser priced options. Software updates...

The New " Garrett Vortex" has been released!

Looking more closely I see… a potential issue for extended water use. The shaft locks if they are the old cam design, can silt up and freeze. This would possibly require a pressure wash to remove the grit. This has been a real issue on many detectors. My friend and fellow club member waterwalker...

Couple of Videos on the Vortex posted by at least one Testers

Okay, I see a potential issue for extended water use. The shaft locks if they are the old cam design they can silt up and freeze. This would possibly require a pressure wash to remove the grit. This has been a real issue on many detectors. I still have a couple of old frozen shafts (as a...

The New " Garrett Vortex" has been released!

I'll add that I do have the experience and own/use mainly the Deus 2, NOX 600 & 800. My detector wall is pretty full of hanging hardware, ATPro, F74LTD, V3i, CZ21, Excal 2, PI Pro Plus, Sea Hunter MK2 - (I love it for travel), TDI Beach Hunter to recall the most popular units hanging. IMHO I...

The New " Garrett Vortex" has been released!

I had to watch the presentation to see if this would really be new or “catch up” by Garrett in terms of what we’ve seen developed by the competition inclusive of the last 8 to 9 years. Garrett having acquired Whites I could only hope that this “new” series will truly be new. If I could swing one...

More Power, More Speed, New Technology! C'mon Garrett! "MD-SF"

    WS6 screen smear

I’m sure others have done as I have. I used one of the extra Equinox screen protectors. Cut to size I only needed one EQX protector to cover the remote and WS6 displays.

Will the Vanquish enough to replace my MXT?

To the point any equinox you can afford is a better choice. In my experience the Vanquish is a dumbed down Nox. The build is eh, my 42 yr old stepson knocked the vanquish control pod nearly clean off. He went to the Nox and loved it and now added a Manticore. He’s a little rough on his...

    Frozen puck during update

Try a different computer. That happened with my Deus 2 remote going to 1.1 *Mind ya I just had no problem using the same MacBook Pro & Chrome browser to get to 1.0 So I stopped there and didn’t try to update the WS6 and WSA2 XL. I wasn’t going to completely loose the ability to hunt w/the D2...

    Hallelujah v1.1 is alive

You just need someone to lean on who is comfortable with the tech for help. I totally bricked my Deus 2 remote on a failed update to 1.1. Just a day or 2 before I had no issues going to 1.0 on the same MacBook and chrome browser. Back further: Previously the week before I went from .6 to .71 on...

    So much for new update

What stunned me was how easy I got 1.0 using my Mac and Chrome browser…then nuttin going to 1.1 Let’s hope this 1.1 is a keeper. I’ll be watching the usual YouTube characters who share a wealth of info. CB, TN, Gary Blackwell etc.

    So much for new update

I cleared the browser cache, reboot - same brick. Thanks again for the suggestions. However using my friends Dell (edge browser - Firefox was incompatible) this afternoon everything went smooth, almost too easy, very happy. Next I will get over my test plot and also read up on user feedback...
