    Equinox 900

The NOX 800 and CTX 3030 are the same...at least in terms of their poor waterproofing - I've drowned both machines twice now (have had NOX for all most 3 yrs and CTX for 6) so for me they both suck the same in terms of water egress. But the NOX is a LOT lighter than the CTX for sure. SO, I'd...

    Equinox Locks up!!

I've own 2 NOX 800s and one for almost 3 yrs. Lots of beach hunting and have drowned the NOX twice. Your problem is definitely weird! Suggest a factory reset.

XP DEUS II AND EQUINOX WET SALT BEACH GOLD???

First comparison I've seen and actually believe. Good job. Other side of the coin - the more microtargets detector sees the more microjunk it will also detect. Although I enjoy hunting microtargets, like studded ear rings, among the microtrash. Others might find it a nuisance especially while...

Tough hunting on the Gulf Coast

Hit and miss for sure right now on the beach w 50-60 deg water temp and 50s to 60s air temp. Same beach from one time to the next can be like day and night - hit the same beach twice at low tide last week and first day found 4 rings w one gold and the very next day w same tide found a few coins...

What is with Coins cut in half?

This year, on 2 different hunts to the same beach, I found a total of 4 coins fragments; that is, one half of a coin that was cut in half. The half coins included a quarter, 2 dimes and a cent. It appears that the coins were cut in half with some type of metal sheers since the cut edges are not...

    I don't detect with a Tesla!

All found with the Vanquish 540. A week of hunting.

I think the 540 is one of the most underappreciated detectors out there and it isn't possible to find a detector better for less money.

    Two POUNDS of Fishing weights

It isn’t unusual for me to find a few fishing weights (I use to call them “sinkers”) while metal detecting. In fact, I know that gold is nearby if I’m digging fishing weights. But 2 pounds worth? This is along with a pocket full of change, a few junk rings, cremation tag, set of keys and a 925...

Mineralized beach sand made my equinox go into overload!!

Agree w Odanscoils above and others - I work a lot of black sand on west coast of Florida and my Equinox and CTX 3030 don't have an issue w it. Sometimes a cross-section of the sand will reveal 5 or more layers of black sand interspersed w regular sand - no problem. Would look at other sources...

Really Really Nice Gold and Diamond band

To remove very heavy tarnish from silver, I wrap the silver (chain) in aluminum foil, tightly but w holes, and place in pan of water fully covered and w baking powder (about 1 tbs/pint). I bring it to boil, turn it off and let it cool. Take a rag and rub off as much tarnish as possible...

Really Really Nice Gold and Diamond band

Here are a few recent finds using the CTX 3030 on the beach this past week. The silver 925 bracelet is 8 ¾” and 14.83g after cleaning; it was originally black w tarnish. The ring is marked 14k and “HIDARGO”. It weighs 11.11g and has 2-180 deg outer bands of diamonds. HIDARGO was a high end...

    15" Coil Ear Stiffener Choice?

I broke an ear on my 15" coil for the Nox and added a "Detecting Adventure" ear stiffener and ended up breaking it when I tried to tightening the bolt!! So I see a real problem with the ear stiffeners as currently manufactured in the ability to stabilize the coil by tightening the bolt (toilet...

    Equinox getting dumped

Technology is part of the metal detecting puzzle that includes skill and luck. My personal estimate is that tech plays 30%, skill is 50% and luck plays 20%. Those who think tech is everything in good finds will ultimately be disappointed with ANY machine. I own low level machines (eg Bounty...

If you've been driven NUTS with people asking you "what is the most valuable thing ya ever found metal detecting?" this Discussion is for you! Sometimes ya just have to give a crazy answer to a question people ask me several times a hunt. One Detectorist told askers that he was hunting for...
