I found some Yankee lead today....need some ID help also!

You're correct in those being Burnsides, and the 2 other pieces are brass saddle strap hardware. Definitely period! Great finds!

HanoverDigger - thanks for the info, I will definitely check it out. Especially now with a potential hunting partner. I'm like you, been digging in the dirt for years. I'll be in touch!

    River hunters

I live in Louisa county - been thinking about river hunting, have the detectors to do so, but haven't yet. I read that there was a permit involved. Haven't checked for myself.

I'm really diggin my mxt pro!

I hit a new (C.W.) site after work yesterday and found these keepers - a fired enfield bullet, a flattened rifle musket bullet and a sword hanger accoutrement. I was swinging the Eclipse 5.3 concentric. Love that coil! Thanks for looking and happy hunting! - Gary

Short hunt at a new permission site

It turns out that a 19th century road runs through a friend's back yard. It had lots of troop movement and is in close proximity to a major C.W. cavalry battle. Had time for a quick hunt after work and found a flattened rifled musket bullet in the road bed, a fired Enfield bullet and a nice...

Gettysburg Electronics has closed it's doors...

From the website: Hello, my name is Donald Hinks and I operated Gettysburg Electronics for over 45 years. My own treasure hunting career began in the late '60s with an early BFO / Transistor Radio kit. After graduating to an early Heathkit, I (and my kids) were hooked, and since 1972 we...

Replacing meter pad on White's black big box analogs

Mine are mostly worn off on a few of my detectors. White's does not stock them. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe cutting a mouse pad to shape and super glue.

Went out beeb & digging for the first time this weekend...

and I really enjoyed myself! I've always been a metered user - it is what I learned and know. But, I am always conscientious as to what the tones are telling me and have learned to base my digging decision more on what I hear and less on what the meter is displaying. These past 2 days out with...

    5" DD for which detector - F5 or F70?

I can't decide which detector to get the 5" DD coil for. I'm leaning towards the F5, because it hasn't been out much since I got the F70, but do you think it would be (significantly) deeper on the F70? I'm a relic hunter and will be swinging at house sites. Any opinions will be appreciated...

If sending detector in for falsing repair...

I was told today by Garrett that I only needed to send the coil & control box in. Not the rods. Saves shipping space / weight / costs. Nice! It is on it's way... H H - Gary

    AT Pro shaft lock question

Would the stainless steel hardware in a shaft lock create a performance issue located 10" above the coil? My AT pro can read a stainless steel bolt waved there @ the shaft connection in standard & pro modes...

My 1st Garrett, the AT Pro, is on its way...

Yep. Went and did it. I'm thinking that I will be happy that I did. Ordered it yesterday, the 16th & received an email this morning saying that it was shipped. Figures I ordered it on the day we got our 1st blanket of snow on the ground... I swing an F70 that is pretty noisy so the chatter in...

XL Pro / Blue & Gray meter faceplate swap

I recently purchased an XL Pro and would like to install a meter faceplate from a Blue & Gray Pro, as I do mostly relic hunting. Have any of you ever done this switch? If so, could you, would you, please tell me how to go about doing this? I would really appreciate it. - Gary
