Has SMF reached the depth of P.I. detectors like the Infinium and Seahunter?

With all the buzz of SMF and depth claims, I am wondering if they have reached or surpassed some of the older P.i. units for in water detecting. If you have used both, lets hear your thoughts.

    XP Deus 3???

I went on the XP site on my laptop instead of my phone, all I can find is about the SOFTWARE VERSION 3.0 and it has 10 differences. I think those guys got confused to be honest.

    XP Deus 3???

They said something about you could look somewhere and see what 10 features the deus 3 had already but idk where they said to look and google is no help.

Garret Axiom P.I. with warranty until March 2026

Excellent conditon Garrett Axiom Pulse Induction metal detector. Warranty remaining until March 2026, great for deep relic hunting and gold prospecting. Purchased brand new 3/2023. I have found civil war bullets and artillery pieces over 17" deep with it. Only selling to fund another hobby...

Just picked up a clean used CTX 3030

I owned the Etrac from 2008 until the CTX came out in 2012. While it was and is a great detector, found my 1st Confederate Civil War button with it being a SC at an old house site, the fe numbers were all over the place, screen resolution wasnt as good, no target trace. To me, FBS2 and the CTX...

Just picked up a clean used CTX 3030

Congrats! I haven't had a CTX since 2017. Had one from the time they came out in 2012 until then. Kinda missed it, Minelab ran a pretty good sell and included both the stock 11 and 6 inch coils, I couldn't resist! CTX is old, its heavy, but its still AWESOME! The pinnacle of FBS technology...

Gone Back To A NEW Nox 800.

I have to agree with the OP. I traded a CTX for the Equinox with all the coils as a pre-order when it first came out in 2018. I am a relic hunter in East Tennessee where we have some pretty highly mineralized clay soil. I immediately started finding more and better with the Equinox. Have made...

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

Every one EXCEPT the KNOWN single frequency machine in this bunch, the go-find and its very narrow 7.4-8.2khz. Mmm hmmm, explain why the ONLY "other" single frequency machine in this bunch has such a Narrow range but all the Fbs and Multi Iq SMF machines have such a wide range and the Xterra Pro...

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

Ok, I dont mind being called a "conspiracy theorist", because as with most of those things, given enough time the "conspiracy" will then be uncovered as "truth".

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

I think the Xterra Pro is an amazing machine at an astronomical value. I do not believe the secret to its success is simply using 8khz, and I dont like to be pissed on and told that its raining. Do you really believe every detector manufacturer in the history of metal detecting has not tested...

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

Yeah 3-18khz. About 15 khz. NOT 3-143 like the Multi-iq AND Xterra Pro show.

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

All that "word salad" still doesn't explain why on a known single frequency detector from Minelab the range is very very narrow, like 1 khz, but on alllll the Fbs and Multi-iq and Pi machines its very similar to the Xterra Pro. Y'all are trying to "explain" away what is very obvious.

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

Show me that documentation then and I will believe it. Funny that the single frequency go find has a very narrow range of frequencies. But show me some printed literature from Minelab backing up what you "say".

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

You dont understand the point? Look at the Go-find, an "actual" single frequency detector and look at the range of frequencies listed, now look at the Xterra Pro. It has an almost identical range to the Equonox and Vanquish, both detectors using Multi-iq. Why such a large range on a single...

I may have just cracked rhe "mystery" of the Xterra Pro on the beach....

Look at this "safety brochure" packed in with a brand new Minelab detector I just received. Look at the frequencies used on the different machine. Look at the Go-find, a single frequency machine, has a very narrow range, look at the Equinox, Vanquish, CTX 2 Multi-iq and an FBS machine, now look...

Xterra Pro Beach Mode - is Minelab hiding its Dual Frequency?

Check this out... Look at the frequencies the Xterra Pro operates on. Pretty much proves to me its smf, because look at the go find, a single fx machine, very narrow frequency range. This is from safety pamplet packed in with a minelab metal detector.

Xterra Pro Beach Mode - is Minelab hiding its Dual Frequency?

I think its definetely more than just "using 8khz". The single frequencies available are 5,10 and 15. So why not just use 5 for beach mode, why add in 8?? The Manticore uses 5,10,15,20 and 40. Beachmode is Multi only. So if 8khz was so "magical" why not offer it as a single fx mode on their...

Are the Equinox coils that work with Xterra Pro better then stock coil - do they help stabilize the VDI?

Expanded scale + single frequency = little more jumpy scale. We all have been spoiled by lock on id's from multi frequency machines. Single frequency detectors have always been a little "jumpy" but if the numbers remain within 2 or 3 either way of a recurring number its likely a solid target...
