    Nearly skunked!

I stopped at the Port Sanilac Beach to look around and then the Lexington Beach. Lexington is were I did the Metal Detecting from the pavilion to the water and back.

    Nearly skunked!

I got out Saturday and drove up the Lake Huron shore line about and hour and a half ride to inspect our Camper that was in storage. Everything there was fine. So on the way back I stopped at a couple of Beaches and Harbors to check the fishing action. I saw two steelhead trout caught from...

Any idea what this might be

The number on it is a clue. Why would they cast something with numbers on it? Is it custom made with one time numbers or is in mass produced with the same numbers. The screw holes are tapered. Was it tapered head wood screws or tapered head machine screws. Stars are a patriotic symbol, meaning...

    Multi Kruzer Update Question

I still have my Multi Kruzer with 3 coils - I use the 7" for fresh water and Beach Hunting. It is a nice unit and targets small stuff when set up in 19 khz. Found gold rings and chains with it.

XP Deus 2 in Tot Lots

Tot Lots can be a good place to test out a new detector. I tested my Orx and D-2 there. Easy digging and quick recovery. There is a school near home that is attended by Rich Kids. They live in neighborhoods where all the homes are on a cannel leading to a lake. You have to have real money to...

Found these at my 1930s house. Anyone know what some of these things are? (Specifically the ring looking things)

Then after that for a time they sealed the jars by heating Paraffin wax up and pouring it into the jar lid- mostly for Jams I think. I opened many a jam jar by breaking out the wax. The eventually the system came about that is widely used today. The ring and lid.

Found these at my 1930s house. Anyone know what some of these things are? (Specifically the ring looking things)

The two Items on the Right are parts of an old style Mason Lid Jar cap top one is a Metal cap and the white ceramic item was inside the cap. They used big red flat rubber rings as a sealing gasket. The lid screwed down on the jar and the gasket was pinched by the ceramic glass in the cap and...

XP Deus 2 in Tot Lots

Try this- Take a dime out and bury it below the bark chips or sand. Then test the unit on that and lower the gain or power so the dime is barely readable but a solid target you would dig. After that you should not be digging to deep and the support steel should not sound off so loud.

Back from OBX yesterday............ this was the trip from hell !!!

No experience with salt water and what is sticking to the metal. Inland I heat up Hydrogen Peroxide in a microwave then and add a crusty copper penny. The Calcium or what ever is on the coin starts to bubble and fizzle. It does not seem to bother the coin. I repeat if needed until I can...

7" concentric coil is a killer on the Multi Kruzer

I use the 7" coil too but mostly beach and fresh water lake hunting. It moves in the water well. Less drag. Picks up the smallest metal pieces too. On beach sand I remember digging a 12" deep rusty crown type bottle cap.

Finally the first hunt of the yr... after 25+yrs of doing this, I commit the biggest rookie mistake...

It is best to keep spare Batteries in you car for what ever device you use. (AA's and 9 volts) Now days I carry spare Charger Cords in case something runs low. Sometimes I recharge the detector while driving to the dig site if it is a longer drive. Some nice spots are 45 mins drive away so...

XP Deus distributor has sold out and have informed us they won't be needing this forum any longer.

That is interesting. Sold out like in: No product in stock? or I sold the company to someone else, let them decide what to do?
