    Rent before buying?

Well, I have owned less than 5 detectors in my 35 years of hunting. In every case I bought it then decided if I liked it. I discovered in most cases there are things I like and don’t like, as would be expected. Some of you may have seen my posts comparing the detectors I do have on a wet sand...

Equinox 900 on wet sand or in saltwater vs. others

I’m interested in anyone’s input on the performance of the Equinox 900 on the wet sand/water compared other detectors. So far from reading the forum the leaders are the following: - AQ Pulse - Legend - Excalibur I have an Excalibur and it beats the Equinox 800 in wet sand with both a small...

    Minelab Equinox 900 vs Legend

Interesting about the Legend. I’m thinking about selling my Equinox 800 and getting something else but haven’t decided what detector yet. I’m holding on to my Excalibur which is great in wet saltwater sand and in the water. How does the Nokta do in the water compared to the Excalibur?

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

Great update JC! I liked how you explained the challenges near the jetty and about swinging quickly. I do notice when detecting that even rocks alone will give dime signal. If there is a pipe or other large iron object under the jetty I will also get signals.

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

Agree on the EMI and keep my excal in case it’s an issue. Nice haul shown also! Still no gold chains yet for me.

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

This is hilarious. It looks like a dredge site. I’ve seen this before, except without all the people (well, maybe a few).

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

All I can say is Wow on the 30” depth!

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

Thanks tvr. I have heard the Fisher Impulse is good. Thanks for the reply.

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

Here is a pic of a small men’s 14kt band in wet saltwater sand at one foot. I could detect it with all metal/pinpoint mode on my Excalibur 1000 (original Excal, not Excal II). Can anyone beat this depth?

How many are using the Excallibur II ?

I use the original Excalibur 1000 using the new Excal II 10” coil, great on the beach. I’ve had it 20 years, no issues!

COILTEK 15 inch all terrain with Equinox?

Does anyone know if a COILTEK all terrain circular 15 inch coil (orange in color) can be connected to an Equinox 800? I used to have it in my Excal II but had removed it. There is no connector on it. If yes, does anyone know if it can perform better than the large Equinox 800 coil?

    4th Ever Indian Head Penny

Congrats! I remember finding my first Indian head and couldn’t believe it. The silver coming out of the ground is cool too.

Largest coil for Original Excalibur 1000 BBS Tech

Thanks Harold. Do you have any comparisons to the original 10” excal? Better depth or sensitivity with the tornado?

Best coil for the Excal in saltwater wading

I’m looking for an opinion on the best, in your opinion, coil for the Excalibur (original Excalibur, not Excalibur II). I had good success with a large SEF butterfly-appearing coil but the minelab repair shop said they detected a leak and I replaced it with a coil tek 15” which I thought was...

JW Fisher 4 foot wide coil with 6x or 8x

Agree on this one. Typically the big stuff is iron. Unless an object like an anchor probably not desirable.

JW Fisher 4 foot wide coil with 6x or 8x

I read there is a 4 foot wide coil that can be dragged it towed using a JW Fishers 6x or 8x detector. Does anyone have experience using this? I could imagine dragging it through the surf to find targets, wet sand, or beach. Or boat possibly. I don’t own a 8x or 6x unit but if something...

Old yacht club gives up lots of old silver coins!

This must have been a thrill. Do you have any advice on finding old swimming holes or similar areas? I though old newspapers could help or local books. I live in Pennsylvania and around here it’s mostly creeks. I’m sure people in the day went in them to cool off but there’s also a lot of...
