    Success in the snow

Two of the three of our team made it out for a snowy late season hunt. There was a lot of cross contamination modern trash and we lost quite a bit of depth due to the crusty snow ranging from 2-5 inches in depth. Pat had the find of the day pulling out a beautiful conestoga bell and minutes...

    1863 Indian

Hi, Well at least it was less than 24 hours ago, I recovered a 1863 Indian, a 1929 Wheat and a 190? Wheat. The 1863 Indian was less than a foot from the spot where I found the 1864 Longacre Indian I recovered last year; I could still see the indent of the ring of the hole in the soil. The...

    1837 Hard times token

At the long lost cellar hole I have been detecting I found this 1837 hard times token. Today I have been in contact with the Martin VanBuren National Historic Site. I offered it as a donation and they would like to have it. Wow it will be in a presidential museum! Thanks for looking, Mike

Out early on this hot day, nice buckle.

I could not sleep, so I went out early and found a sweet little buckle. A week ago t the same spot I found this colonial axe head , the second one to come out from this spot (I have been cleaning it using electrolyses, it's about half way done). Thanks for looking, Mike

Quick after work dig, quick 1864 Indian

I was tired and rundown after work so I went out for 20 minutes of relaxation with the detector. After two nails, that sounded good, this indian was a fairly quiet sound but a good sound. It doesn't look like it saw much circulation. Thanks for looking, Mike

    Cuff links 1800s?

Just dug cuff links. My guess is late 1800s to early 1900s. Any input would be greatly appreciated. It looks to be mother of pearl with gold gilding. I was using a XP Deus. Thanks for looking, Mike

    Birthday find, bridle rosette

Yesterday was my birthday and I only made it out for about 30 minutes to detect and to try out a new pin pointer I received as a gift. Using a cherry picking program, with a lot of iron notched out, a strong round signal sounded and allowed the recovery of this old bridle rosette. Thanks for...

    First colonial copper

I am very lucky to be able to detect the land my great grandfather built his home on. The house was built about 1880 and many of the recoveries are from the late 1800s. On much of the land, about 2 acres, there were burn pits. But, on two spots the land has been untouched and the copper was...

    Pinfire shotgun cartridge

I was out to the same spot as where I had gotten the tokens and about 15 yards away another full sound. It had a little iron sound around it but the center of the sound was just right. I was running sounds only again. Out came this pinfire shotgun shell cartridge. I don't know if running sounds...

    Two Civil War Tokens

Earlier this week I had my first decent finds; I,m relatively new to using my Deus. It started to rain and I put my control unit in my pocket and went sounds only. I was running in GM Power with manual GB. The cuff flat button (it has a slight image of a flower in gold on it face) came the first...

I made the jump, new owner.

After reading everything I could on the XP Deus I finally made the investment into the hobby I love. Thank you Bart ,Big Boys Hobbies, for answering all of my questions and the great price. Within 48 hours the detector was at my door. I will hopefully be posting pictures soon, as soon as the...

Barber and Finally it is all making sense.

I made it out for a couple of hours today and found my first Barber quarter. Once again I was using Magics Pro Program with the RX 15, Stereo Mix Mode, Lock Track (slightly positive), Recovery Delay 125, and the Frequency set at 5hz High Pass. It rang in loud and clear with a VDI at 91/93. It...

    Weight and balance?

I have been considering an new E-Trac but I am concerned about the weight and balance, more the balance. The weight is not really the problem. I have the two Nautilus detectors I use in the woods and relic digging but they are setup with the Whites rod conversion to compensate for weight. For...
