    I am torn,,,, your thoughts?

I can’t help you where the 600 specifically is concerned, but I like the small coil for the 800, and I would expect the performance of a small coil for the 600 to be at least the same. But I guess it also matters where a small coil is needed, and how much time you plan to spend detecting sites...

    Equinox 800 noisy

Two things— lower sensitivity, or find a single frequency that works for you. Running multi-frequency, while attractive, can pick up more interference than a single freq.

    Deus 2 question regarding frequencies.

That mall is called West Towne Mall, and it's grown quite a bit since then. Like just about every city, Knoxville has its "bad" part of town. If it weren't for the East Knoxville community, and a couple of places in the northern part of the city, Knoxville's murder rate would be rock bottom...

    Deus 2 question regarding frequencies.

    Maryville--East Tennessee.

    Deus 2 question regarding frequencies.

Purchased my first Deus (2) and am a newbie regarding this machine, but not multi-frequency machines. I have a basic awareness regarding the pluses and minuses regarding running various frequences, i.e. depth, large/small targets, sensitivity to low and high conductors, and so forth. I have...

    Is the nox 800 dead?

I think the 800 is still an excellent machine.

    "Ethically correct" metal detecting.

I am asking for an opinion, consensus, and hope I do not offend with this question. As we all understand the courtesies that should be extended to a property owner who allows us to detect on their property, especially regarding digging and target recovery, how we treat the property owner's yard...

    EMI

I attended an organized relic hunt last weekend, and a large section of the property was bisected by those high tension power lines that emit tons of EMI. Unfortunately, a spot directly under the power lines was where some of the Civil War soldiers had camped. I like detecting in multi-...

Ok. I need some adult supervision figuring out the GB on the Equinox 800

I am confused. Basically, I know how to manually GB the Equinox and putting it in Tracking--the issue squirreling me up is this quote from the manual: " The default Ground Balance setting of 0 is recommended for Park, Field and Beach Modes because these locations typically have less...

    6” coil test

2 wheats, a handful of clad. After downloading the new update, the coin TIDs. Ranged from 20-28.; junk was in the teens. Most coins were in the 3-4” range, but by lifting the coil, I noticed I was still getting good hits on them with the coil 8” above the ground. Also, was detecting in close...

Excal Repair and Service.

Sent my old blue Excal 1000 to Detector Center, requesting o-ring service, calibration check, and adjusting a couple of the pots that were out of sync. I also informed them that I was interested in replacing the stock coil with a smaller coil, and wanted to discuss that further with them, as I...

    6” coil

Got mine recently, and preliminary tests suggest it is going to be a pretty hot coil. Definitely a keeper.

Coil cover or ? for water hunting?

I water hunt in a riverine environment where the bottom is rocky/gravelly, and seem to remember where someone suggested using some sort of protectant on the bottom of the search coil in lieu of an actual coil cover. Anyone care to weigh in? Thanks

Question: will the Equinox have to be sent to a service center to replace the battery?

Some say yes, but I haven’t seen an official answer yet.
  15. Greg (E.Tn)

Well, finally made my mind up about what coil I want to put on my Excal, and now I can't find anybody who has one in stock.

Specifically the Slimline Tornado 8" Coil for the Excal. However, I did notice on the description for this coil that it was waterproof only down to 1 meter, in which case I might be better off. I did find vendors for the NEL Sharpshooter (fully waterproof--9.5" X 5'5" DD), and the CORS...

I heard a rumor about a new metal detector by Fisher. Is it true?

I heard they were working on a waterproof pulse machine that discriminates. Anybody know the skinny on this?
  17. Greg (E.Tn)

If any of the testers of the equinox read this forum, why don't you conduct a conclusive test of the machine?

Instead of resorting to sleight of hand tests and surface target tests, show us how deep the detector will detect a coin or non-ferrous object, and the solidity of the VDI. Please.
