Still love my original gold bug

Back when I first started detecting, I went with a group outside of the small town of Sumpter, Oregon. Others had nice Minelab systems and some had White's detectors for the outing. But no one found as small gold as I did with my Gold Bug. I found gold "nuggets" almost as small as Jefferson's...

    Playing around

To show how light can change your subject. On both I was using a flash unit with a snoot that narrows the light to a smaller circle. This was from a single flash unit. Then I added a soft box to the unit with a second soft box at a lower setting to fill in the group. Take a look at these...

Some weather we're having in Portland, OR

Pretty unusual. We received 8" of snow yesterday. Then today, it snowed and turned to sleet for a while and then snowed some more. Looks like we will have a few more days of the white stuff. Also supposed to get more snow this week. White Christmas here we come.... Sodbuster

    Question about X70 pinpointing

When I am pin-pointing a target that comes in with a reading of a dime or quarter, when I go to pin-point mode the ID will change to a negative number. Sometimes I have dug nickles this way other times I have found nothing but trash. What am I missing in the pin-point mode? Thanks, Sodbuster

Okay -- still learning to discriminate...

So, when you are listening and looking at the screen, What are the typical numbers for the coins you are finding? Are you using the audio more than the numbers? Still learning a lot with my X70 but am loving every minute of it. I am getting good at finding pennys but would like to hit the...

XLT vs MXT for nugget shooting

Doing my due diligence in looking for a new detector. I currently have a Fisher GB 2 for shooting smaller nuggets. I am looking at purchasing an "all-around" machine to do some coin/relic/etc hunting as well as nugget shooting/prospecting. I have seen the videos on both products (MXT and...
