4th hunt with E-Trac found my first SLQ but she

is in BAD shape. I had a about an hour to get out this afternoon and went to an old house and decided to hunt along the old driveway leading up to the house. The driveway had been covered with a layer of blacktop years ago. I finally found out what the E-Trac sounds like on big silver, there was no mistake in my mind that this was silver. I just stood there waving the E-Trac back and forth thinking this sure is a sweet sound, I hope it is silver. I started to dig and after about 1 inch I ran into the chat and oil mix from the blacktop, I was very careful and finally at about 5 inches I saw the oil covered coin and didn't know for sure what it was. I went to the truck and ran some water on it and could see that is was a SLQ. I could not make out the date but when I got home I put it under a light and magnifying glass and finally made out the 25 but couldn't even see the 19. My first SLQ is in BAD shape but I am still doing the happy dance. :wiggle: Firsts are really fun!! Love this E-Trac. Thanks for looking, Randy

Congratulations! SLQ's are such a cool coin.

Bad shape our not she is yours and she is a beauty! Congrats!

Thanks for all the encouragement, it is really exciting for me. The town where I live was only established in 1907 and there is nothing really old in this area. Finding silver around here is not very common, there is not much history around here before the 1900's. Thanks everyone. HH - Randy

Congrats Randy!----The dates on so many of those Standing Liberty quarters are worn off because of the high relief on the (date) strike.---They sure aren't found all that often either but you found that one--and that baby's "yours all yours"!.----Thanks for shareing the hunt story & the pictures. ----------Del

HAPPY HUNTING ALL OF YOU HERES TO BETTER WEATHER COMING

Congrats!! I will take a worn out SLQ anyday. I would rather find one of those over a Barber. I think they are one of the nicest looking coins ever made.

Yours looks similar to one of the ones I found last year and I think she is a beauty queen:)

Yes, SLQ's seem to be rare in this part of the country too.
I hunt at a lot of older locations - have found 3400 coins with my E-Trac - only two were SLQ's !

Hey, at least you found one. And if you can find one, you can find another.
