I went to a very small park as in 1/6 block size and boy was it loaded with trash.I used the stock coil for over an hour and got one 45 wheat cent and a near heat stroke
.I hated to give up as it is an old park and I had never hunted it but just knew their should be some oldies there.
Not even any clad just junk and the folding pendent and one wheat later I got another drink and put the little 8x6 on and went back at it in the 87 degree temp.Within 12 ft of the car I get a nice shallow 12-42 at 3 in and thinking clad dug it and it was a nice 1910 wheat so I get more interested and a couple feet over a very shallow 12-41 and at 1 in. a 1918 wheaty. Now i am thinking I better go slow in all the trash next to the street and get a nice 11-31 at 4" and out comes the 1902 Indian.
I am starting to have visions of silver now and lay down a pattern and after about 10 ft i get a strange sounding target at 5" that is bouncing all over and dig a nice plug and sticking to the bottom I see 2 silver dimes!I was the 2 Mercs 26 and 41 with rust stains and a small nail against them.I am thinking that still did not explain all the tones and numbers and passed my probe over the plug where the dimes were and get a low tone and scratch out a pull tab that was directly on top of the dimes.
I am feeling a lot better now considering the heat and slowly move forward and get a nice silver sounding 12-45 at 6" and it was the 1912 Barber with a bit of rust stain and 2 small nails in the hole with it.I then hunted another 30 min and found 3 more Wheaties and the silver eagle piece.
I then discovered that much of the area next to my hot spot was trashy burnt fill and was ready to call it quits but decided to hit a little 6 ft area between two large trees and got a deep silver sounding target that read 1-46,47 .I dug a nice plug and stuck the sun ray in and got that lovely silver sound at the bottom edge and took out a scoop of dirt and there the 1877 seated quarter was at around 7" standing straight up on edge at the bottom edge of my widened hole.
That was the end of the goodies and after a few more min. I give up and went to get a drink as I was about to melt down.Let me say I had went over at least part of the first coins with the larger coil and just did not get them because of the massive amounts of trash i guess.
Chalk another one up for the smaller coils is all I have to say,Ray.
