I dug the first coin and its a 1846 Large Cent, the ground is wet and,I dint not expect to,find one.8. Not much trash and, next out came the Mercury Dime 1939 from a place I have hunted before. Last is early wheatie and some clad cents. Warm out cant complain for this time of the year 50 degrees. Thanks for looking

Michael

That is a great way to end the year by getting silver and that nice large cent. I am still waiting to find my first U.S. Large cent.
I may have to head further east :)

Great hunt Michael! And Dave....the fact YOU haven’t found one is inconceivable! Just FYI if you didn’t know, they come in exactly like a quarter, so dig those deep quarters!:) I know you do but just to be sure....:)

Hey IDX,
yep, I have dug silver dollars, seated quarters and foreign copper coins back to 1821 but never a us large cent.
my detecting buddy has hunted longer than me and he has gotten one braided hair over the years.
I am aware they sound like a quarter and I wont be missing it when I get over one :)
