BETTER THAN E TRAC?

I have tried just about every detector out there. I mean just about all. Is there one better on silver coins than the E trac. I dont think so!.. found three silver dimes yesterday and this place has been hunted to death. Seems like the ET is much deeper and also target ID is best at great depths on the coins..just my opinion.
 
I agree there's nothing out there better than an ETrac for finding silver.

But, what about gold?

Does anyone think that there's a detector out there that can beat an Etrac on finding gold or gold jewelry?

What's your opinion?
 
your talking two different machines,,,, one for gold jewelry and a different one for placer gold,,, if ya wanna stay cheap get a Compadrea for the trinkets and a dedicated gold machine for the nuggets
 
Now why did you have to go and tell everyone the Etrac is the best. I will have competition everywhere now lol.
 
E-Trac is the best deep silver machine hands down. For gold I've used none better than the AT Pro.
 
That is easy for you to say in Indiana. I still wonder if there is not something better for really bad soil like ours. The V3i actually has a white paper written on dealing with mineralization, and has a lot more adjustments that can be made for soil like mine. I have not heard any reports of it working better, yet.

Coins usually disappear here deeper than 3-5 inches even with an etrac. You can basically just cut your depth in half, and that is what I get. So a guy that wrote about getting funny sounds and VDIs on 7"+ coins, that is what I am getting at 3-5 inches.

A friend took his E-Trac to Indiana and was finding silver at 8-9 inches, when he normally gets 5-6 inches 100 miles north of me. He said it was like a totally different machine in great soil. That reminds me when I used mine at the beach in dry sand and I was able to open sens up to 30, and use smooth sounds, it was surreal!

Tennreb, what are you getting on coins up there?
 
Idaho has some bad soil also. Some places I go mining at I wouldnt think of getting out the etrac because the sand is black from all the iron and magnetite sand. Best machine I ever had for that kind of stuff was the Whites 5900 and 6000, Still have them both but dont use them anymore.

That is what some of the parks here are like. Some were paved and filled with iron slag gravel. The club guys picked all the detectable silver in non private areas, almost city wide in the 80s, not that it matters too much because the soil would have hidden them by now, anyway.
 
Etrac is great for gold! Have I missed things??? Probably, small chains and small gold items but the larger stuff....it does very well. Another type of machine made specifically for finding gold would naturally be better for it. The enclosed pic is just about 30 percent of the good stuff Ive found in a bit more than 2 years of doing this hobby.
 
For hunting gold at the beaches or a trash free site the E-Trac does fairly well, but honestly the chance of finding gold for most of us is pretty low. Not so much that the E-Trac isn't capable of finding gold but that most of us use it at sites where it is far less likely and adjusted more for that deep silver/copper.

When I hunt our extremely trashy city park I use a very restrictive pattern. Excuse me if I'm not in to spending 3 hours digging trash to find a couple of keepers. I'm a very selective hunter and the E-Trac can be a very selective machine thats why it works so well for me. Most of the time I run a pattern that gives me probably a 85% chance of ONLY recovering old coins. When I want to hunt jewelry I'll use my DFX.

Most of the time...I agree with you but this time I have to say, that Im glad I dont use those selective patterns. I think anyone can find good jewelry....if they want to do it.:geek:
 
The V3 comes closest but the V3 is not as comfortable and it is much more complex, much harder to learn, and harder to set up and keep setup right for where you're hunting. Frankly, it is a PITA compared to the ET.
The E-TRAC is practically turn on and go and the ID is amazing... never ignore one way signals that have a consistant CO number and a FE number that is close. I have found some great masked targets by digging one way signals with a consistant CO number. For instance, a CW site. IF I get a one way signal with a consistant 33 or 34 on the CO side and the FE is in maybe a 10 number range say between 7 and 20... it is very likely to be lead.
The ET may be slightly heavy to some but if you slighty tweak the shaft length while you hunt it makes a huge difference in the comfort.There is no detector as good in every way.

If I can get rid of this plantar fasciitis I will get out and find me some treasure matey!!!

I have a few hunted out places to hit again, laff.

The SovereignGT is also a good choice for gold. I like to use pitch hold on the ET because it is one of the real strengths of the Sovereign. The Sovereign is another really good machine.

I don't post much over here, but my 2 top detectors is the E-Trac and my Sovereign GT, but the F-75 I had did some good for me too and a fine detector, but can only use one detector at a time. I bet you notice too the E-Trac runs so much smoother than the Explorers and the conductivity number are more accurate too plus faster response. If a person is serious about detecting I feel they will own a E-Trac, Explorer or a Sovereign as they will get the coins others leave behind as it give you the info and lets you decide to dig or not, not like the beep and dig detectors.
 
Im looking into buying a v3i ..iv down load the owners manual ..read it twice,, watched every youtibe video on it,, it is talked up very highly,, but iv noticed lot more people and videos of etrac,,i have garrett gti 2500 used a year,, found lot neat stuff but i feel it was talked up over for what it really does ...heck of coin shooter in parks and its not a bad detector either ...just hope v3i is as good as they say for price got to pay,,, ......ron, northern ky
 
Is this the original cocentric coil? Or is this a new one? I always wanted to try that coil,But I heard it wasn't that good in hot ground. I totally agree with the comments on the E-trac. It is an awesome detector and I have had many. The only other detector I own that I like as well is a Fisher CZ-3D. I feal as far as pure raw depth coil for coil it is deeper on silver,copper coins. But in trash I would give the nod to the E-trac. The only problem in my area is that it is so user friendly that all the newbee's are getting them!
