Any opinions on a third coil? Besides the stock coil, I have the 8x6 SEF. Just looking for some suggestions. I know that the most important factor would be what type of hunting. I am thinking more along the lines of being prepared for any type of hunting.

You might want to consider a big brother to the 8x6 and get a 10x12 SEF.
 
First off, I love the screen name. It begs of a parody for the song. If you're having trouble with your high school ring, it was yours to lose...you've gotta Garrett, try a Minelab instead... (no offense to Garrett, it just fits) something to that effect. I am sure you could do better...

I have thought of going big. Any real advantage to the 10x12 compared to the stock 11"? I was thinking about the 15x12 but was wondering if that is overkill. Thanks for the recommendation...

The 12x15 is a great coil for more open areas without to heavy trash concentrations.You can cover a lot of ground and it pinpoints well for a large coil. If weight is an issue for you the 12x15 is rather heavy but a pleasure to use with a bungee type harness.You could go the opposite direction and get a Sunray x5 for the ultimate heavy trash sniper.Just depends on the type of sites you hunt most. Larger coils work well to cover beaches .The two coils you have are about optimum for most average sites in my opinion but not all sites are average and what is the norm for one person may be a great deal different for the next hunter....
 
Get the 6 inch Sunray coil for those high trash spots.
 
I have tried A FEW large coils and I prefer the Sun-Ray X-12 for my ground. I'm with Ray on the X-5. Both seperate targets in trash well and pin-point great. I too have a 6X8 SEF that works good on the E-Trac. But in my opinion the pro-coil is my all around choice. Now you have a multitude of opinions so good luck with whatever choice you make. Thanks for the insight. I've been using the 8x6 on my Safari for the past few weeks. My E-Trac is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. I am anxious to see how the 8x6 performs on the E-Trac. I was hunting an old lot last night (very trashy) and pulled a merc out with the Safari. Who am I kidding, I am anxious to use the E-Trac!
