ETRAC CHALLENGE

NebTrac said:
Thanks Slay!

Man! I'm pretty dense. I didn't realize your were Vidslayer! Guys. Slay was on of the top 3 from youtube to get me interested in the E-Trac and detecting in general. I always found his videos informative as well as entertaining. I will say this Slay. If you ever find yourself in central Nebraska with some time on your hands you let me know. I will treat you to a few places that have been good to me.

I've only hunted in Iowa twice. One was in Missouri Valley and the other was the big park in Atlantic Iowa.

Keep the videos coming my friend!

NebTrac

hows yoiur weather nebtrac are you going to be ready for the challenge soooooon lol looking forward to your list

Yep, Saddler. I'd say you are the winner so far! Is that a spearhead of sorts? You and sis must have a great site there in the UK

some of the guys have not listed their finds yet are you all snowed in or WHAT??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

i have realized that when i had my screen covered up i was listening and finding more blips to dig and since i am hearing more and am digging a few more interesting targets as well as the ones i am sure about we still have some results to come in after this weekend would can anyone else make any judgement on the challenge it was good fun i know that

I learned I don't ever have the desire to use a detector with just a beep LOL

yes guys we have a few more challengers going to give it ago this weekend and will post their results up so look forward to seeing them and hearing their comments

haha i know what you mean we are not just using the sound but we do rely on the visual screen numbers i will sum up what i ahve learnt when we get all the results in

Run Andy's coin program. Conductive multi tones. Gain at 27. Sensitivity manual (usually two numbers above what the auto +3 is running at. Most of day I was between 21 and 24). Deep and fast both on. Stock coil. Blackwidow headphones.

The clad dime was a clean, shallow, solid hit and the other five weren't. I did look at the numbers after locating each one and the only one I might not have dug would have been the deep iron because the ferrous number was bouncing between 27 and 30 with a null mixed in. The three coins were in the 4 to 6 inch range and the other three trash targets were in the 7+ inch range. I wouldn't have dug the clad dime because it was shallow.

1. clad dime

2. approximately 3"x3" piece of smashed brass

3. some type of Ford metal part looks (stainless steel kind of round in shape)

4. copper memorial

5. this one was an iffy crappy signal but could get a nice tone every now and then. I looked at screen and wouldn't have dug this target but did. It was iron at about 8".

6. copper memorial.

SUMMARY OF CHALLENGE

thankyou randy for your results taking everything into account i can see that the easiest targets for everyone to pick up are coins i suppose that is because they sound good and you could be assured it was going to be worth digging. THIS CHALLENGE WAS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU DUG ALTHOUGH THAT IS WHAT I ASKED TOU TO REPORT it was a smoke screen haha this challenge was about each and everyone of us learning more about the etrac and our hunting habits how many of us learnt something well we had one guy commented on how he realised he was cherry picking and he hit the nail on the head that is what alot of us do and at what expense how many targets are being ignored not everyone can sound perfect but i watched as a newbie my sister actually dug a target in the challenge that i would have past by and produced a pendant lying sidewards and in an area i had hunted regularly she didnt know to ignore it and so dug this incredible relic this has to get you thinking WHAT ARE WE MISSING i am digging everytime i get a high tone two ways but the id can still show 35 as it has locked on to a larger piece of iron it is only when the hole is opened up the signal becomes clearer all this makes you think and i am not going to rely on my screen so much next week i will raise another challenge much easier but still very interesting i hope you guys enjoyed doing something different and i wonder how many had a go without repoting finds lol happy hunting to you all and if you think you have anything to add about your hunt please feel free and add your thoughts

ok brought topic back to the first page as promised so that the guys frozen in may be ready to do the challenge ok grumpyolddiver and nebtrac hope you can get out for a SWING ON THE ETRAC and post up some results really looking forward to your comments and anything you learn thanks guys
