FINALLY hit all my goals, got 100th silver tonite!

Goes4ever

New member
at the first of the season I set some goals for myself and tonite I finally met my last goal. My goals for the year were:

1. 75 indians, hit that early so bumped it to 100, just hit that saturday
2. 100 silvers, tonite dug #100 and 101
3. find ANY seated coin. dug a seated dime AND a seated quarter this season
4. Find at least one large cent, I dug 2 this season, 1849 and a no dater
5. Find gold, ANY gold.....got a 1939 gold class ring about a month ago

I went to a site tonite I thought was hunted out, it is a field site and I have pounded it to death with my xterra 70 over last 2 seasons, BUT I have never been back since getting my etrac and my wife told me if you go there you will get silver. I laughed and said I doubt it....lol. This site had a church on it from 1870-1960. I have dug a lot of mercs, rosies, wheats, buffalo, some V nickels and handful of indians. And I thought it was cleared out as I have gridded it pretty hard. I went back tonite not expecting much.

I put the etrac into two tone ferrous and slowly crept thru the iron, well guess what it wasn't hunted out. First got the rosie for silver #100, then 2 minutes later I got the merc. Taking me to 101 silver for the season. I said sure would be nice to get another indian here and swinging to the car I got a toated indian, but it counts! The reverse is nice and the obverse is GONE...I also got what I think is a gold plated cufflink, the post is broke off.

It has been a wonderful season. I absolutely love the etrac it has pulled a lot of goodies from sites I have already hunted hard.

Congratulations on reaching and exceeding your goals!!! Awesome!

Goes4Ever, congrats on reaching and exceeding all your goals! One of the goals I set for this, my first season, was to find ANY gold as well. The one gold thing I found (in two pieces) was a cuff link a lot like yours. Are you sure it's plated? It looks like it might be solid gold. The one I found is solid, even the hinge is gold. It's broken, but it's still there.

no I am not sure, I assume it is only plated since it is not marked anywhere

Goes4Ever,

Great numbers, that's the way to enjoy the summer. I guess I will have to count my silver this year, just haven't thought about it. Just having fun.

Great job once again Terry! Keep on swingin' as long as ground stays un-frozen....might as well ride this deal as long as we can!!! Thanks for the pictures man!

Congratulations on meeting your goals. A hundred silvers and a hundred Indian Heads is a great accomplishments these days (don't think I've found that many Indian Heads in the past 30 years all together). Going to have to get busy and find some better spots to hunt.

Looks like you've really got that E-Trac down pat. Hope to some day know mine as well as you know yours. It's already proved to be a awesome machine in trashy areas. I sure love how it picks the good finds out with iron in the same hole.

Keep up the good hunting and here's hoping you can double those finds next year. Rick

Great job finding your 100th silver coin and your 100th IHC Terry !
Thanks for all of the stories and photos this season.

Seems to me you found the secret path to sucess in our hobby ...

(A) - Buy the best metal detector made - even if you can't afford it !
(B) - Learn everything you can about your machine - read, post questions, etc.!
(C) - Get out in the field with the machine as often as possible - every time you go out - you learn a little more - plus the more swing time = the more stuff !
(D) - Research - very important - old maps, trips to the library talking to older long term residents, etc. Reseach can take a lot of time - but it can sure pay off !
(E) - Asking property owners if you can hunt around their old farm houses - great idea ! - unlike town parks, schools and churchs - theres a good chance your the first person to ever hunt there !

This nails it Mark, very well put.

Although I do have to admit, it is nice to have a fallback location or two that I can hunt when I don't have a place to hunt lined up or other plans fall through. A local park or old school comes in handy at those times.

congrates....i love my etrac.....my partner and i have only found i think 4 silvers this season but over 30 colonials....it definatly helps to do your homework....maps, historic society, libraries, ect.....and of course having an etrac....i'm starting to freak out that the snow will be comming soon....i'm going to have to move south....lol...i think i'm addicted...lol...

very nice finds...i've been asking questions on this forum with great resulst and of course reading andy's book..well studying it..lol...till the pages fall out...lol..but i have a question for you...i'm doing these two fields...donglassdigger and i have taken over 15 colonials and one cents out...oldest being 1714, one reale, silver half dollar....the problem is there are a ton of old square head bent nails in certain areas....and beleive me i've done my homework to figure it out....but i hear people saying to use your 2tf program.....do you think that would work around the rusty darn nails....and crawl thru those areas....i have put it on quick mask and get so many different numbers.....if the FE is lower than 27 and CO is around 30 to 40's would you dig it.....so i guess thats two questions.....thanks ginger

Nice Finds! Congratulations
