First silver

Mosley

New member
I have been metal detecting now for over a year. I am retired, so I hunt several hours a day 3-4 days a week. The town I live in was started in the 1880's. It has been very heavily detected. I have found several thousand clad coins, some rings, etc. I have found around ten wheat pennies, but no silver. I decided to concentrate in an old park where I found a wheat penny. I got a good 12-46 signal. I dug down 4-5 inches and there it was, my first silver. a 1945 Mercury dime.
Those of you who find wheat pennies and silver on a regular basis don't know how fortunate you are. Where I live, old coins have been very hard to find. Maybe now that I have one, I'll find some more.
I tried to upload a picture, but it is larger than 420 KB, and being computer handicaped, I don't know how to make it smaller.

Bravo
You will remember your first silver like no other to come
I'm in a slump right now and I live in a very historic area
But, although you believe your area is detected out, you have proven that wrong
I suggest you do a day trip to another area with potential which you can find with research

Good Luck and HH

 WOOHOO!!! congrats buddy, you'll never forget your first silver!!! mine was also a merc dime!!!!

Congrats! Mainly Clad Dimes for me. No Silver! posted some coins I cannot identify...just maybe. Graduated from a $14 Radio Shack to bounty hunter then better bounty hunter, put about 200 hrs. found cans and foil. I did find a dead horse buried in the 50's...had some sheet metal over the shallow grave...Really good signal, thought I was in the money! brought back a bone thinking I solved a crime. Granny-in-Law says OH LOOK OCDfinder dug up Pampa's horse HAHAHA.

I bought my Etrac this year, its like WOW. I did get a 1961 quarter for change at 7-11 AFTER I bought the Etrac, but still not counting that. I want to have a hunt like those Chicago Guys at the beach... that's like metal detecting porn.

Congratulations on your first silver. If your using a Mac, just export the pic, from iPhoto, to the desktop using the medium setting and the size should be much smaller so you may post a pic.

Congrats finding your first Silver !
Mercury Dimes sure are one GREAT looking coin !
