Found A 1901-S Barber Dime Today

I got permisson to hunt an old abandoned house today. The house looks like it was built in the late 1800's or very early 1900's.
The neighbor told me that no one has lived is there since the 1960's. The house is really collapsing - the garage already caved in - and junk everywhere !

I was at the house for about a half an hour when I got a solid FE 12 - CO 44/45 hit. I was hoping for a Mercury Dime - and up pops this key date 1901-S Barber. To bad it has a flat spot on one side and it's so heavily worn - but believe me - I'm not complaining ! Dug the 1923 Wheat Cent about a half hour later. It's tough swinging at this site - you just have to work the small open areas - sticker bushes, tree branches, and tons of iron - will be going back soon !

Mark, that is a great find, flat spot or no flat spot, congratulations. Working around those old houses can produce some good stuff but is very tedious work. HH - Randy

Winter is a great time to clear out the brush thats keeping you from hunting a wider area. Good luck!
