Found a HU POO something irresistible and a little silver

Found some odd things today, hunting a new spot where an old school house stood, we don't know the exact location. My brother got permission to hunt and he doesn't have a metal detector, I am trying to get him hooked. It was 112 degrees here today so we didn't last long. Found a few coins nothing old then got a good strong signal and found a irresistible rouge compact, on the back it is called "Cheek Lure". They did like their rouge back then. The next good signal sounded like a copper penny but when I got it out it was the size of silver dollar but copper. I couldn't see it good but when we got home and cleaned it a little it is a HU POO Chinese "20 CASH" coin. I don't know the date but a quick look on the Internet I think it is in the late teens or 20's. It is wore and hard to take a good picture of it but that is a dragon on the front. The last good signal sounded like a silver coin and out popped the silver sombrero brooch. I think it is only silver plated and is called a campesino ( or peasants) brooch. Will go back when it cools off a little. In the mean time I am going to try and get my wife to put on some of that "Cheek Lure" -- Randy

Yes, I like those interesting finds also. Sometimes, I also find unique metal items that I
have never seen before. You never know what you may find in the ground.

jeepcj5, I live in North Texas on the Red River, we broke an 80 year old record today.

I know you guys didn't need the heat on top of the drought Randy. I'm praying things get better, weather wise for ya! By the way, are you sure "Cheek Lure" isn't just a diaper cream :poke:.

Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on the very interesting finds. That's great your brother got you permission!!!

Very cool finds Randy !
I found two 1920's era brass compacts last year - similar to yours - something different - they look real nice in the display case when their cleaned up - I put them with my jewelry.
