well what a day....im finally really starting to understand the etrac! that is the best part of this day. i dug my deepest wheat penny at about 7" to dirt level, so give me 1" for grass and air too. im starting to really get the hang of filtering out all the falsing and focus on repeatable, definite targets. starting to learn what is an "iffy" signal that has more "hope" than not...i ran in manual all day (stayed around 24) and picked my own channels. im not sure if the channels made a difference yet. but i think i like manual better. i like the stability of sensitivity, it makes the "noise" worse, at times, but it doesnt bother me anymore. i like that the detector runs the same all the time unless i make the change.
the walker has ended a 4 year half drought, it has been a LONG time. it was about 4" deep, it sounded "too" high, like a can, but had a sweet sound...and honestly when it popped out of the dirt i couldnt beleive it, i kept thinking some kind of junk, or a screw cap, because ive been digging so many of those. it was beautiful. BIG! Heavy! Nice! i always scan my silver hoping i didnt scratch it. luckily i didnt scratch any. this is from my "old swimmin hole" site. i know that other detectorist(s?) have been to the area. (ive found holes over deep, ear catching, large junk metal) this makes 8 silvers total from this particular swimmin hole. yesterday i found the walker and 4 silver dimes. i cant remember the last time i found that many silvers but im sure it has to be late 80's, if i ever even did it then. not sure.
im super, super happy with this hunt. this is the kind of hunt that makes the bad days ok....some days are good, some days arent. for me this is a great day!
good luck everyone! hope you have a "personal great day" soon as well.
oh and check out how the coinage breaks down.....2 clad dimes and one memorial penny total "new" coins for the day.....got to LOVE sites like that.
