Hello again guys and gals. Here are the finds I got on Saturday and Sunday, the 15th and 16th of this month. Let's get to the story.

Tim and I headed back out in the search for more goodies on Saturday and we both decided to not come back until Sunday Night so it was going to be a long weekend for us again.

We started off pretty good at a small town Park that at first we didn't think was old at all. The Playground Equipment and an Old Concrete Basketball Court was the only true signs of the place being old enough for some Wheats or Silver so we kept at it for quite awhile. Eventually, I ran into a Wheatie and then a Silver Rosie. We hunted this Park for at least 2 hours or so and we did get some goodies. Tim got lucky once again and was able to pull out a Walker, a Silver Quarter, and a few Silver Dimes also. He also got a couple Wheats to add to his pocket. I got a few Merc's, Rosie's and a few Wheats here. I also dug a 1939 Jefferson Nickel from this spot.

After leaving this spot, it was a tough hunt. We didn't find much after this on Saturday but for some Wheats and maybe a couple Silver but it was a really tough hunt and only hoped for improved results on Sunday.

We stayed at a Campsite and slept in my Car for the night since single rooms cost $80 which was a joke. So we slept in my Saturn and you know.....it's amazing how comfortable it was since the Seats laid all the way back.

Morning came on Sunday and we decided to go try out a School where an Old Park once was at to see if we couldn't get lucky and find some goodies on the Boulevards. Tim only found a Wheatie here and I didn't get anything but some Clad. So we moved onto another location.

We decided to go give an Old Fairgrounds a shot where Tim had visited before and found quite a few Silvers at. He only hunted a small area due to the grass only being mowed in one location so he thought it would be a good spot to try.

We arrived at the location and started hunting. At first, all we were finding were a few Deeper Clad Coins in the areas that Tim had never tried but about an hour later, we finally found a spot that had some Wheats showing up. Tim was starting to work an area and I knew he had found some Silver there just because he was working a Pattern. I finally got a Silver Rosie that was barely 2" Deep. I also was picking up a few Wheats on the way here as well. Tim finally moved from the area he was working and I had thought he had gotten all the goodies because he left. I eventually walked into that spot and started to get a few shallower Signals. I decided to dig them and see what they were. They turned out to be shallow Wheats so I started to work the area hard myself to see what else might be there. I don't know if Tim worked it with a tight Pattern or not but I started to pull a couple Wheats and then a surprise comes out of one hole. A Silver Washington Quarter! I yelled over to Tim and told him I just found a Silver Quarter and he didn't look too happy about that. I kept working the area and soon found a Rosie, 2 Merc's, and a few more Wheats. Tim then asked if I wanted to go check out that Ball Field area and before I could answer him, I got a good strong signal that showed about 6"-8" Deep. I didn't reply really to his question so I dug the plug and to my surprise, out pops a No Date Standing Liberty Quarter!:yikes: I then yelled over to Tim and told him Standing Liberty Quarter! You could really see the disgust on his face now since he walked away from that spot. About 3 minutes later I got another good signal and dug a plug. I was in sheer awe when I seen another Silver Quarter surface!:surprised: I then told Tim I just pulled another Silver Quarter. Tim kept telling me that I should find a Walker there if the Quarters were there and I didn't think so. I eventually did find a Half Dollar though and it did tick me off a bit when I seen it since it was in the general location where I was pulling the Quarters from. It turned out to be a Stinkin' Clad Kennedy Half Dollar!:throw: Darn things have been tormenting me this summer that's for sure and Tim got a chuckle when I told him what I got. Darn Clad Halves!:ranting: Shortly after this we decided to go try where the Ball Field was.

On the way over to the Ball Field area, we come across a small area of construction in front of an Old Church so we had to stop since there could be Barber or Indian Heads there. The area wasn't that big, maybe 35' Long and about 12' Wide so it wouldn't take us long to hunt that. We got out and I noticed I lost my Brass Probe over at the Fairgrounds. I looked in the Car but it wasn't there. We went on to detect this little area and this is what we found. Tim found 2 Indian Heads, a Mercury Dime and 2 or 3 Wheats. I got 2 Wheats, an Indian Head and a Barber Dime. Tim didn't like it that I got the only Barber but that's the way it goes. Maybe next time buddy!

We then decided to try out the Ball Field that Tim knew about but never tried. We hunted this for only about 20 minutes since it seemed it was messed up pretty good. The only keeper found here was a 1958-d Wheatie found by me.

Tim then asked if we should go hit a few neighboring towns or go back to the Fairgrounds where we knew there was Silver at. I didn't know what to do and I wanted to try and get my Probe back before we went home. I eventually told Tim let's go check out the next town. We headed over to the next town and tried a Park and Ball Field there. It was pretty dead and we knew we had made a mistake of leaving the Fairgrounds. Good thing was that it was only about 12 Miles or so away so we hurried back to see if we couldn't get a few more keepers before the sun went down and to see if we couldn't find my Probe.

We got back there and about 15 minutes into it, I relocated my Brass Probe. I figured it was over in the area where I was finding a few Shallow Clad and that is where it was. I must have forgotten to pick it back up so I'm glad I got it back. We hunted this for about another hour or so with a few more keepers being found. I got a few more Wheats, a Silver Rosie, and another Standing Liberty Quarter. The Standing Liberty Quarter was reading like Iron does, giving my a Solid 31 on Digital. Only once did it change pitch and that was all I needed to know that it wasn't Iron....at least something maybe next to Iron but not all Iron under my Coil. I dug the Plug and was kinda stunned when the Probe rang out clear. I was thinking it would null but it didn't. I really was shocked when I seen in the bottom of the hole the edge of a Silver Quarter laying flat. Tim couldn't believe that I got another Standing Liberty Quarter either. He wanted to find a Silver Quarter he said and I told him "not today.....you got yours yesterday so it was my turn!". Tim ended up finding a couple more Wheats and a Merc before we left though.

I'm sure we will be going back there sometime since the stuff is there. It was another successful hunt again and if it wasn't for Tim knowing about this Fairgrounds and stuff being there, we wouldn't have done that well on finds at all. There was a lot of spots that were hit hard by someone out there so every site wasn't loaded with riches. We worked our butt's off again for what we got and hope to find some more spots this weekend. Now to the totals.

For Silver during these 2 days, I got another 17 of them. They are 2 No Date Standing Liberty Quarters, 2 Washington Quarters dated 1934,1954, 1 Barber Dime dated 1905-O (normal O), 7 Mercury Dimes dated 1917,1919-s,1920,1923,1938,1943,1944, and 5 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1950-s,1952-d,1957-d,1958-d and 1961-d. I also dug 1 Clad Kennedy Half Dollar dated 1971-d. Nickels were few and I only got 1 which was a 1939 Jefferson Nickel. The Indian Heads were almost no where to be found but got lucky and found 1 dated 1902. Wheaties this time around totalled 37. They are dated 17,18,18-d,19,19-s,27-s,35-d,39,40,(2)40-d,41,(2)44,(2)44-d,45-s,(4)46-d,46-s,47-d,48-d,49-d,51-s,(2)52-d,53-d,54-d,(2)55-d,(2)56-d,(2)57-d and 58-d. For Misc. Finds, I got a Large Softball or Baseball Medal which is cheaply made with no inscription on the back, 2 Old Copper Rings, a Sterling Silver Ring, an Old Brass Bell, part of an Aluminum Kids Ring, a Key, another Cheap Ring that looks like Gold but isn't and a National Heroes Gen. U. S. Grant Mazuma Play 25 Coin which I thought was a Cracker Jack or Shell Token. That was a neat find to get and my first Mazuma Play Coin like that. Well that does it for this round of finds. Hope you enjoyed the pics and the little story with it.

Coming up next will be the haul from the 10th Annual Club Hunt for Minnkota Artifact And Recovery Group which I attended this last weekend and a short hunt with actual real lost finds I got Sunday Night after the Club Meeting. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all. May you find some location near you and rake in the Silver and other great finds that I have so luckily been able to find this season.[attachment 137141 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 137142 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 137143 DirtyCladHalfNickelInjun.jpg][attachment 137144 CleanedCladHalfNickelInjun.jpg][attachment 137137 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 137138 CleanedWheats.jpg][attachment 137139 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 137140 CleanedMisc..jpg]

have these kinds of finds in them....you just have to do a lot of driving and get lucky enough to swing the Coil over them to know you've located a Loaded Site. A little research also goes a long way which will increase the chances of finds a great site to detect at. I got really lucky on that particular Sunday and if Tim didn't leave that area at the Fairgrounds, I wouldn't have gotten a lot of the Silver I did, especially the 4 Quarters. I'm glad to hear you enjoy my postings since I put a lot of long hours in during the weekend just to make the finds I do and then put even more long hours just to clean up the finds and get them posted for you all to see and enjoy. If I can go out and find these kinds of finds, then I'm sure you could also but it will take some traveling to do it most likely if your sites are detected by others hard. Thanks for the reply Stubbs1 and Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing. May you find some Big Silver's and other goodies when you get out.

Nice finds James.....:clapping:
Sometimes the little, older towns seem to produce the best finds.:detecting:
Enjoyed your post and the pics. Continued success in your future
hunts. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

It's been one interesting year that's for sure. Going to try and hit 400 Silver for the year so hope to continue pulling more Silver on my outings. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you at those sites your currently hunting.

believe my finds to be true unlike this Peggysue Character that just likes to pop off at the mouth. It's kind of enjoying though to see that person get so upset due to my finds and posts since they obviously don't have a clue where to go to find things like I do. Thanks for being a positive responder on my postings since it's hard work to go out and find what I do every weekend and know it isn't easy for others to get out like I do and make finds like these. It does give them hope though and that is what counts since others in my area might get lucky and hit something good also. Thanks again and Good Luck and HH to you NiagracountyNY. Hope to see you post some good finds soon!:detecting:

I edited one of your posts because it was a little distasteful.

It's fine to voice your opinions here on this forum...and you are more than welcome to do so....but please keep them clean.

All this being said...again...you are welcome to voice your opinions.

it truely will be amazing if I get to 400 Silver before freeze-up. Thanks for your support and reply. Hope you get out this weekend and make some good finds for yourself JJ. If you do, please post them. Good Luck and HH to you.

I'm getting right around 40mpg highway with it which is unbelievable. Last vehicle I had only got about 22mpg so this is a big change for me and now I really can get out there a ways and explore sights that were too expensive to drive to last season. Thanks for the reply GR and Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing as well.:detecting:

Nice finds James  Glad you got out! I have never made it out on a big road trip before... One of these day.... Thanks for posting!!!

and going a long ways just because there has to be sites somewhere out there that haven't been hit hard yet with an Explorer. All it takes really is a Car with good gas mileage, free time to do it, and an Atlas so you don't get lost. After that, it's simple to just drive through towns and look for sites to hunt. There is a ton of spots yet to be found and worked even if someone with a different brand detector has already hit the site which has been the case on several occassions on the trips that I have gone out on this year. Next time you drive into a smaller town, look for vacant lots and door knock at the house next door and see who owns it. Then try and get permission to hunt it since these are one of the most over-looked spots to hunt a person can detect and find some really good finds at. Thanks for the reply D and hope to see more finds from you posted again real soon. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

James the pm's that are coming in are overwhelming, you say you dont care......well somebody sure does :nopity: this kind of slings some mud on the old reputation don't it, no pun intended  TAKE....CARE....AND....HH OLD BUDDY !

There are always a few that don't believe some of the stuff posted here but I'm not one of them. I guess if someone goes out and finds say 6 Silver in an afternoon they would also be called a liar since they found too many Silver on such a short outing according to you. You must live in an area that is full of detectorists and are upset due to you not being able to find much of anything in your area but that's not my fault. I live in an area that apparently has only a limited amount of hunters thus the reason for the good sites still being around here. I think you better take up fishing since that hobby always replenishes itself and your chances of success are greatly higher than Coin Shooting. Have a good weekend and try to stay out of trouble.

It get tough to find a new coins sometime in the local parks, schools, ball Fields around here so some do question it as they don't find any where close to what you find. Now there is a very good reason for this that many don't know and too lazy to find out and that is you and Tim do a lot of research of old maps, centennial books of where the action was back in the late 1800 and early 1900 and work trying to find out where these place are at. Many are just fields and some are even swampy areas where you cant even detect so you look for any area close by where other activities have been. Most of these area you have hit are places where no one would have thought of without knowing what happened back years ago. The old people that were back in those times are gone so we cant ask them and why research is very important.
Also from the years of detecting you know what to look for in some areas to show some people been there like a lot of rusty bottle caps show there were people there and you want to work this area more.
People that detect like to hit the most common areas around hear which is good too as they cant find much anymore, but have got the trash and new coins out of the way so you can concentrate on the deeper and better find, I have been doing this for years and just love to hear the area is worked out as these are where the better finds comes from.

James look at when you were using the Bounty hunter Big bud 220 and were only getting clad with a couple silver a month and when you got your Explorer XS how you took the time to learn it and starting to do some research and what you and Tim can do with your detectors now. I am sure if you would have seen post like your finds when you had the Bounty Hunter you would have said impossible, but you know it is possible now and if Peggysue ever decide to really try to learn what it takes to be success full hunter like you and Tim are then they too will believe. Not everyone does good with a detector as they want it to do all the work and when they see others doing well they call them a liar and some maybe this way too as we have seen it haven't we James?? I will say what you are posting for finds are 100% found by you in places anyone can go.
James we all wish we can do as well as you can and some are just too jealous of you and your ability and determination to find these great finds. I would like to see you have the time to go to those that doubt your finds and show them what they are missing in their own area.

Good luck James and keep finding more as it give us all a little more confidence of what the Minelabs can do.

I feel I'm either typing in greek or some forget what I have posted before about doing the research and finding these forgotten spots in a chance to hit it big with some great finds. It also takes luck which plays big sometimes because some of these sites are right out in the open and no research was done for some of them so anyone could have happened across them and found what Tim and I have been finding all year long.

I do remember using the Big Bud Pro Select 220-d Bounty Hunter that I had and would sometimes get lucky finding a Merc at 5"-6" Deep and thought I was doing great with it...which I did and it was a good machine but compared to the Explorer that I use now, that is mainly a Clad Hunter to me now since the Explorer XS goes Deeper and finds Tons more Old Coins than what I was find back then.

I also know what your saying with sites being hit hard and only a few Clads are sometimes the rewards for the hunters efforts but this can change if the user takes time to do the research, find them old sites, and get any needed permission to hunt them since there is still a lot of spots out there waiting to have a search coil swung over them. You also have to find different sites to hunt at since the Coins don't replenish themselves like we all hoped they would. The more spots you find to hunt the better chance that the hunter will have to make some good finds.

I know not all sites are LOADED and that some sites have MINIMAL RESULTS, but that doesn't mean that they are not worth detecting either. Tim took me to a Park a few weeks ago where he only found a few Wheats at and he only hunted this for about an hour I believe and when I got out of the car, within 10 minutes I had already found a Barber Dime. I then went on to find another Barber Dime, a few Wheats and Indian Heads. If there is Wheats present, then it's worth hunting to me since there could be other things there including Silver.

I thank you Rick in taking the time to respond to this since you of all people know that Tim and I don't make our finds up and that every find we get is 100% Long Lost Finds that we have recovered. Thanks again buddy. Hope you get out more this month and find a few more Coins and hope to see you land a Silver Quarter or a Half before the years end. Good Luck and HH to you.

I haven't been up to snuff lately and haven't checked out the forum lately. I see that you made some more nice finds once again James.:clapping: No doubt that you will surpass the 400 silver coins mark for 2009. Makes us all wonder what you will strive for in 2010 and make that non-believer PeggySue even more upset than he was this year. I think it would be cool if you could start making some videos of some of your hunts like a couple of other fellows do on the forum and put PeggySue to rest, but more important it would be neat for all of us to see the expert silver seeker in action. Good luck on your next outing buddy and HH. Oh, I sent you a email a while back, but you must be too busy digging up silver.:look:
