OK here is my question, i recently found a 29 diamond heart pendant necklace, it hasn't been in the ground long ,it looks kinda old but the diamonds are pretty big where do i sell it how do i sell it ? i was told that if there was paper work for this i cant sell it or it would hard to sell it ,,i have been told it is a very expensive piece of jewelry , my guess and others say at least two thousand dollars?

Any reputable jeweler can do a written appraisal. It would be money well spent if you want to sell it. Don't expect to get full appraised price, it will be priced for replacement or insurable price, in other words new retail price. Expect to get about half or less of the appraised price.

Last year I was reading the lost and found. Some people read the obituaries but I read the L and F. Anyway, I read a Lost ad that the person lost 2 wedding bands, on the same day and at a beach that I hunt on. I thought, "Oh boy, I can run down there and possible score 2 rings"! I decided to call the ad and a newlywed, his new wife, his friend with his new wife traveled to Gloucester from Boston to celebrate their recent marriage. The newlywed was washing his hands on the edge of the water and lost his ring. He called out to his friend and his friend begin to frantically search for the ring. Unfortunately, his friend also lost his ring! After searching in the sand for over an hour, they retreated with the deep ache of their loss and the condolences from their new spouses. I felt terrible for him after hearing this and I could relate to their loss for I lost the diamond ring that my grandmother so proudly gifted me. My first thought when I read the ad was "Whoopie, I can cash in on this deal if I can find the rings and bring it to the cash for gold shop !! I really could use the $" I went down to the beach and searched for 2 afternoons with no luck though I gridded the area of where the chaps lost their rings. I called a buddy of mine to help. Well, our good Lord came to our aid and my friend found one platinum ring that was about a good 40 feet from where it was thought to be lost. We just could not find the 2nd one and during that time of searching, we had a good storm that brought tons of sand in. I was hoping that someone would find it and see the inscriptions inside and try to find the owner. I emailed this picture to the owner - he previously described it so I knew it was his ring. I never wanted anything in return for the feeling of happiness for him outweighed the money. When he came to pick it up, he brought me a nice thank you card with $100 in it and a bouquet of flowers. Me and my friend spit the gift money. I promised to try to find the other ring and I still have his email. Long story short: With obvious sentimental jewelry items esp. wedding rings, etc.-try to find the owner first. Do what you can to be diligent. If after awhile you can't find the owner, then ebay it or whatever. As a former antique dealer, I can say that you will get a price somewhere at wholesale or below. Good luck with your decision.
