In 33 years of treasure hunting my 11th detector is

An E-TRAC! Ordered this morning.

Let's roll! :twodetecting:

I hope it lives up to my expectations. I will work hard to do my part and look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone.

Arnie

It won't Arnie.

Each of us are paid to show off cool Silver, IH's, Buff's, and the like. The E-Trac wouldn't detect a Silver ingot if it were duct-taped to the coil.

In seriousness, I really do hope it lives up to your expectations. The first 20 hours were the roughest...for me anyway.

Have a little patience as this detector will be different then you are probably used to, so there will be a learning curve and being it see so much and lets you know the info on each target it will have to be swung slower then many detectors do. If you don't have the book by Andy Sabisch on the E-Trac it would be wise to get it as there is a lot of good tips in this book.

Good luck as you have moved up to the big boy toys now.

Good choice.

Do exactly what it says on the inside cover of the owner's manual. 1 Turn on the detector 2 Press NOISE CANCEL 3 Go Detecting. That's it and won't be long you will be very pleased with your decision to get an E-Trac. Congratulations. HH :minelab:

If you are a coin hunter all of your buddies with other detectors will be mad because you will be getting stuff they can't see. If there is siver and the coil can see it, you will find it.

Took me a long time to really get used to my E-Trac, but now any other machine (I have XTerra 70 and MXT Pro) is strange and I always want to go back to my ETrac.

I will never give up my E-Trac!

I am a new E-Trac owner myself. I did a lot of research before I bought one.I have only used mine once. But I have to say that this is the first high end detector that I wasn't saying to myself after the first use that "I can't believe I spent this much on this piece of junk." My ears and pea sized brain can't handle a lot of chatter. The E-Trac is the smoothest, quietest detector I have ever owned. I run my sens on 30.My first time out produced a lot of goodies in a short time where I have used about every detector I have owned. I am into Civil War Relics only. It was picking mini balls and small lead out of piles of iron. This field has seen several of my Explorers, modified Sovs, F75 LTD, Nautilus and other great detectors. Now I do a lot of reading, especially on Findmall E-Trac forum. These guys are a great help. You are going to love this detector. Now I run almost completely open screen, 2 tone and ferrous which is easy on the ears to me. Enjoy that new detector and Happy Diggin from the Tennessee Rebel

I agree with Tennrebel. The Findmall E-Trac forum is a great place to learn about your new detector. I am sure you are going to make some great discoveries!

Keep in mind that soil even if in the same area "may it be 1 mile from where you produced several goodies or 50 miles" may or may not give you different info. As you use your new E, pay attention to the Info ( ferrous/conductive) it gives you. With soil change comes number change. Not real dramatic but enough too make you dig or not dig. Anytime I move to a different hunting ground I dig similar ferrous numbers or close too just to see what it produces. I will then make an alteration in my numbers too suite the soil.
My biggest problem is " I dig everything" just because 3 min. of my time digging , could be the time of my life....

Just saying,
Moose

Thanks fellows. I chose this site as my primary forum specifically because of all the E-TRAC information shared among each other.

I've mainly been a relic hunter over the past 10 years since I live in the sticks. I've been hunting old 1850's home sites with my Tesoro Tejon but haven't found any silver coins. I know they are there, but there is so much iron in the ground I think they are being masked. And I crawl with my Tejon, super super slow. My Tejon is a good detector but I think the E-TRAC can do everything it can do and more. I dig everything out here because I'm in fields or brush so I feel like my coin count should go up if I can just see through the iron.

I'm excited to get going and hope to be hammering some sites I pounded to see what pops up.

Put it on GROUND difficult for unplowed ground most all hunting, if it's a plowed field or sandy beach like soil use GROUND regular, and run TRASH on HIGH all the time for the SEE THROUGH capability. Only real changes needed, all others are pretty much personal preferences.

Cool...yeah, let's roll
i ordered one also. it should arrive in two unbearably long and torturous days.

My primary hunting grounds are also 1800s are home sites. The best one has yielded some nice silver coins, and other silver items...using a Sovereign XS with a SunRay DTI III meter. It's a nice machine, but of course technology has improved in the 14 years since i bought it. Can't wait to go back and find what i missed.

Good luck with your new machine !
We're all looking forward to seeing photo's of your finds in this forum !

I kept thinking it was broke. I'd even shake it lightly:smoke:to get it to make a noise! It is the Mercedes of detectors IMHO. Pound for pound, I don't think it can be improved. I think as far as detecting goes it is as far as you can go. Not trying to sell them, its just a superb piece of equipment. If I could think of an improvement, I would like one you could slip the control box off and belt mount it, to let the coil loose to do its own thing. Enjoy!

It arrived today.

This is different than any other detector I've ever used. It's not beep and dig, that's for sure.

Hopefully the weather will be clear tomorrow for the maiden voyage.

Stay tuned!

Arnie

When i got mine i took it out for my first hunt and it only found .48 in clad. The second hunt got me only .16 but 4 were wheat pennies. I had to wait till my third hunt before it found a 47 rosie and a 1920 merc. The following three hunts it only found one merc each time. It's an O.K. machine.
