Hello Everyone!
I started the morning yesterday searching google earth for a metal detecting spot.
Found a couple small towns that showed no parks so it was kind of a, go there and see kind of day.
Got out the gps and put in a town,a church,an old school,another old school,another town,and a town
i knew had a park.
Well, the first town did have a park, but it must have been built later,I did find one wheat there,a doorknob
which i threw away, one dime-clad,and that was it!
I figured somebody must have already hit it,due to the lack of clad!
Next,on to the church, luckily it had a sign out front with the preachers name and phone number!
He said,look all i wanted!
Same scenario here, not one coin to be found, very rare not to find a clad coin!
Off to the next old school,It has been built on to and is being lived in so i go on!
Next old school is completely gone, and not sure who owns the property,so on i go
to the next town,no park here so off to the last town i knew had a park.
Had a little more luck here, ended up finding a 1941 silver quarter right off the start.
a pretty good indication it hadn't been looked much!
The quarter was only like four inches, but the soil was highly mineralised,so i cranked up the sensitivity
to get all the depth i could.
About twenty minutes later i get a deeper silver hit showing about seven inches and a 46 on the conductive side.
turns out it was the 1953 rosie that was extremely bent!
About five foot away i get another silver hit showing seven to eight inches,it was the 1944 merc dime.
Also found an army pin,and some kind of token, game piece thingy.
It says Medal of membership, Captain Midnight 1940 flight patrol.
Other side says: Captain Midnight,CobralHoba? Remember the password.
Captain Midnight,Chuck Ramsay,Patsy Donovan.
Two more wheats,wheats were,1957D,1951,1941!
Ended up being a fun day!

Thanks for looking,Best of luck to everyone!

Nice finds but you need to be more careful digging so as not to bend those silver dimes like that

Harold,

You almost found a clipped Silver coin like I always do!

Looks like you had a great day, jumping around from place to place. In my area, I don't have to go far to find another park....there's literally a thousand parks within an 70 mile radius of me. Of course, not all of them hold silver coinage, so I do have to research them a little.

The Captain Midnight medal is really cool too!

Congrats,

Nice finds Bob !

Strange you dug a bent dime yesterday - so did I - it was bent like a horseshoe - found it on a rock / sand beach - looks like it driven over a bunch of times by the clam diggers in their pick up trucks.

Sometimes I bounce around to several different sites in one day too - it can be a lot of fun !
