JUST FOR FUN.........

OK, just for fun---what's your speculation/guesses on what the next "up-graded" Etrac is going to be like???-----Realistically, what kind of a machine might it be?----It IS fun to dream, right?? :)--------------Del

kinda like a roomba.....just sit back, sip some lemonade, and it brings you the goodies.

Lighter weight and better ergonomics. Maybe a color screen, but that would not impress me. Maybe a little better in the gold range. Gps would be nice built in!!

Good call with the GPS. That would be a definite improvement....something no other detector has. Of course a color screen.

They are looking carefully at the XP Deus which has become stiff competition against the E-Trac in the UK and the rest of Europe with a price point around $2300 US.

Performance aside (there are many online tests and videos) - the Deus is an amazing machine from a functionality and ergonomics perspective.
Totally wireless performance from the headphones to the control unit to the coil. Miniature batteries in all 3 units makes the control unit smaller than an iphone and the wireless headphones extremely light. Combined weight with stock 9" coil is 2.15 lbs. The optional larger 11x13 coil, although pricey, adds a few inches of depth. Interestingly, since the detector can operate either with or without the control panel or the headphones, by adding the optional coil and buying a replacement shaft you now have another fully working detector for around $825.

Although (as many of you know) I am a die hard E-Trac user I did just receive an XP Deus yesterday. It is a very cool looking and light weight machine. Won't have a chance to get it into the field for a few weeks...unless etracjoe or ct todd invite me out :detecting:

Come on up.......no invite needed. I'm game. I would really like to see how the xp works. I have the perfect spot to try it out. No coins found at this location with the Etrac thusfar. Have found a few interesting items, but hammered it real well. Would be better in the fall, but I think it would be ok now too. Site is very shady so no low brush, but with shade you have mosquitos. I have found a colonial officers trigger guard there and also a war of 1812?? artillery button, and some other relics. I have sold my 8x6 coil but I think a small coil would do wonders around the foundation itself. Let us know how you like the Deus if you make it out with it soon. I think Minelab will have or does have something great in the works that will blow the Deus out of the water. HH Joe

Im hoping for more of a updated Explorer II... Dual mode, Explorer/Etrac, faster, fully adjustable recovery speed, selectable frequency, assignable tones , decent screen (view-ability), decent screen (durability), clock, modern battery, metal, x-terra,/f75/ whites type S handle with rear headphone jack, optional wireless headphones, decent stable stand like being used now... availability of replacement parts,

Whatmakes you think there is going to be an updated E-TRAC? I willreally be surprised to see one but, if we do the focus will be in two or three areas. 1 (and most important) lighter weight/more ergonomic. 2: color display. 3: water resistant... and that would be a delightful surprise.

I didn't read every post above, but I would like to see a discrimination based on depth.

In other words, alert me on everything I do not have masked out, but only i f it is 5 inches or more in depth.

To put it simply... a machine capable of accuracy to 24" on a dime. As I think many of my old sites have targets deeper than current detection depths. Whole new world down there. Enough said? HH MIke
