Key date Barber dime...Neat pocket spill...lots of silver coins from a private yard:super:

Great story...........fantastic finds Bryce.

Sometimes it is easier said than done.

Ya Bryce I pass by some of the best sites you can imagine every day. If I asked permission I may get it but the fact that I'm being watched all the time or the feeling that I'm intruding is hard for me.I like MDing without being watched or at least the feeling of not being watched or the feeling that I have to entertain the owner while I'm there.GR

WOW 1905-O BARBER DIME  THEN HAVE TO TURN AROUND AND GIVE IT BACK GEEZ THATS TO MUCH EXCITEMENT FOR ME IN ONE DAY :rage: HEY BUDDY U FOUND IT NOBODY CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY KEEP THE SILVER POPPIN ...PHIL :minelab:

I felt much better about it the next morning. He was a good old feller' and the look on his face made it all worthwhile. Like you said...I found it and that's what counts.:wiggle:

Bryce, That's a nice find and a great story! However, and I realize this is a bit of a trivial point (and I hope nobody takes it the wrong way), but I don't understand why a 1905-O dime is considered a "key date". With approx. 3.4 million minted (including "micro" mint mark varieties) and a fairly low value (compared to numerous other Barber dime dates/mint marks), I would consider it a common date coin, albeit a "better" common date.
Once again, a nice find, just not a key date.

Sorry, but that's just one of my pet peeves. Kinda falls into the same category as labelling anyone who does the right thing a "Hero".
Oh, and by the way, you did the right thing! Good job!
Toby

I'm NOT a coin collector....just a collector of what I FIND. I was just excited when I glanced in the book and saw it was a high $$ coin compared to many barber dimes...although there are tons of barbers priced higher in vg-f condition. To be completely honest...I didn't realize until your post that in fact it is NOT a key date...and is really not even a semi key date...just as you said...my opinion would be it is a "better" common date. There is always a chance it could have been the micro version...but I'll never know as I gave it back about an hour after I found it. Anyway Toby...thanks for the response...and great post. I probably would have never known unless you responded to my post:thumbup: My apologies to all for posting it as a key date. Excitement got the best of me.:wiggle:
