Lost my "old girl" this week:cry:

Hey everyone, This has been a hard week with my mind unfortunately not on metal detecting. I had to put my 12.5 yr. old German shorthair pointer down. I have done alot of bird hunting with her in the past and I'm sure going to miss her! She had a great life out in the country with us and brought alot of joy and good times afield to us. Here is a couple of pictures of her doing what she love to do, pointing birds. I think some detecting this weekend will do me some good. Thanks all and HH.

It is tough when you lose a good dog, as I know first hand. But the good news is that with some luck and a little research you will find another that you will love too! Personally I feel honored to have had several excellent dogs, and have two now. I also keep hunting dogs, currently Wirehair Pointers. The hunting breeds make the best family dogs, IMO. Send us puppy pictures in a month or two!

What a beautiful dog. Sorry for your loss!

I'm sorry for the loss of your dog (pal). You'll want to replace her or him as soon as possible.

Man thats has to be tough.I have 2 newly purchased goldens that are 9 months old now and i am already stressing about what will happen when 1 of them goes.Sorry to hear and hope you heal quickly.

Loosing a good dog is really tough - we have nine dogs and their all like members of the family - very sorry for your loss.

Yes it is tough,But as you posted the pictures,There will always be the Memories of a loved one.

Thanks everyone for all your kindness. I have a 2 yr. old olde english bulldogge to see me through this. She(Bella ann) misses her the most I believe. I'm just glad that my shorthair had a chance to teach her some things the 2 yrs. they where together. Bella still looks for her to come back. Thanks again all and HH.

my deep sympathy for the loss of your dog (what is her name?)
I have always believed that our dog(s) are part of our families
When my father died, the two dogs we had stayed at the door for two weeks only taking bathroom breaks and food requirements
waiting for him to return
After these dogs passed it was over ten years before I could consider getting another(for my son who begged)
Now we have two and we cant imagine life without them
And as I know Bella Ann is a great comfort I also know that your "old girl" remains in your heart and is missed

Detecting has allowed me to deal with great sadness and I believe it will allow you some comfort too
Best wishes

deepest sympathies buddy, truly like losing a family member!!! Take solace in the fact she had a great life and brought much joy and happiness to her family!! (and birds on the table)

Sorry to hear about that. Thanks for sharing with us. Great looking dog.

Usually don't post over here, but read about your loss and sorry for you loosing your family member....gotta be tough.

So sorry for your loss. I just lost my yellow lab of 12 years suddenly last month. Her name was Sally. I was depressed for a month untill the wife gave me the go ahead to get a new lab. I finally found one on a Pennsylvania Dutch farm in Lancaster county. She is awesome, and so will be your new pup. This new ones name is Peach, and I already took her to the skeet club yesterday, no fear of shootong, get social skills etc... I live in nj and bumped into someone giving a german shorthair, not wirehair away for free. They can't handel the need for this dog to run. P.M. me and I will give you the name and number if interested. Man, I'm really sorry for your loss. God Bless.

Sorry to hear that. Dogs are truly wonderful companions and bring so much joy into our lives. I had to put down 2 of my dogs a Scottie and a Minature Pinscher and I truly know how sad and difficult it was. I went three months before I ended up adopting a rescue dog an American Staffordshire and he helped mend my heart.

I feel for you and understand how you feel. I raised blue dobermans and had a mom and daughter of 10 and 12 years. They grew up with my kids and were family. It's been 5 years since they died and I still miss them. You just have to enjoy the good memories. Mark
