my two cents...

I have found only a few (maybe 5, now) of these in my time and I cant beleive I found two in the same day, only about 10' apart from each other....almost blew my headphones of, each reading a loud 11-46. Kinda funny at first the first one I found was about 4" deep and I caught a glimpse of it and thought "oh no a clad quarter"...then i saw the ONE CENT on the back and almost had a heart attack...1828! That is the oldest US issued coin i have ever found. The other coin, I cant see a date. The other coin like I said was maybe 10' away and only 2" deep. i had a good feeling what it was before i dug it because it sounded exactly like the first one. I researched this spot, it was some kind of a metal working shop at one time. Luckily the spot is just woods now and there is no way you'd ever guess anything was there without research. I also found a 2 cent peice there last fall with my old detector. Its hard though because there are chunks of metal everywhere. I wish i could show these coins before they were dropped, the 1828 has a lot of detail but it just started crumbling on me. Too bad but still cool.

Good for you any day with a LC is a good day Find two of them makes a week

Very nice Large Cents !

Thats the shame with the old coppers. They dry almost immediately when exposed and then will flake. Try a medicine bottle large enough for an lc and put a bit of water in it and next time you dig one up put it directly in it until you figure out what to do with it. Nice save anyways and sounds like you were due. HH Joe
