New to the E-Trac forum

New E-Trac should be here Monday or Tuesday. Hunting today with my F75, may be it's retirement hunt.

You will find the two make a terrific pair. Once you get some time on the e-trac , and knowing your expertise with the 75 , I will be very interested to see you make a direct comparison between the two on the same undisturbed targets.

Well the E-Trac made it to it's new home in WV today, so I came home for hunting today and got it out of the box and put it together. The F75 set the bar pretty high for the E-Trac today, it found one wheat penny. LOL

I didn't know it came with a rechargeable battery pack and charger and new headphones. I got the battery pack charging, maybe tomorrow I can take it out in the yard tinker with it a little.

For sure a different machine than anything I have seen in the past.

Can't wait to get enough of a handle on this machine to take it on a hunt. Just don't want to waste a hunting day with a machine that I don't know at all.

Listen for those nice squeaky high tones for that silver...

Set the gain to 19......Sens. to manuel 26......stay in coin pattern for now.....With gain at 19 you can tell deep coins by how they are softer high pitch...I would turn varibility all the way up......I like the high sound...for silver......Get some Sunray headphones....the stock ones make everything lower tones!.............................To me Best Machines out there....I own two 3030's...and just can't find deep silver to me ...like the Etrac can...They(3030's) are killer on Separation..to me hard to find deep stuff...........If you can try and find a Sunray X1......Then you will not be chasing so many Iron targets.......Once you go for the real deep silver ..hard to tell nails from silver.....But with a X1...once you dig down some...it will tell you if good or bad target.....................Have Fun.........I love my E-trac!!!!!!

I've also been using the etrac for a pretty short time and something I've learned the hard way is to not push the sens too much right away. I was running manual sense as high as I could with no chatter and it would give a lot of false iron beeps so I was finding myself spending more time circling and investigating targets. Now I've just been running auto +3 and it is extremely more stable with hardly any iron falsing, then can switch to manual on iffy targets. Although I do think manual is deeper and might be able to hit some targets auto might not but while gaining experience I think I'll stick with auto for now. Another thing is learning to really trust the machine and hunt by sound first and screen for reference, listening for those consistent sounding signals that preferably hit from the 90 angle too. Also want them to pinpoint in the same spot you're hearing the sweep signal at, I also like sizing pinpoint option. This is just my own sentiments and still learning myself. But wish you great finds with your new awesome Etrac! : )

You will be amazed................ Hunt all your old sites..
Look up Goes4ever's settings. They should work very well in your area.

I found this site, now I am wondering if I enter those settings will the E-Trac keep them or will I need to put them in every time I start the machine up?

I have been playing with the E-Trac Emulator that my brother sent me a link to and I am pretty sure I can get all the settings loaded in there.

I have been watching some of the youtube videos for the E-Trac and it seems that most users like to go by the numbers and not the patterns. For me I kind of liked the looks of the patterns over the numbers.

I fired up the E-trac for the first time and it took its first breath of WV air.

Congrats on your new E-Trac - it's a fantastic machine !
This forum is a great place to learn about your ET - lots of real nice and experienced members here !
Be sure to get a small coil ( 6" or less) if possible - they are much better at isolating good targets in iron infested areas than the stock 11" coil.

Good Hunting !

Well I still haven't taken it hunting, my brother sent me link to the Minelab emulator. For me this has been a real help with the learning of the E-Trac, I just finished making my first disc pattern. I loaded it in the emulator several times now just to make sure I I know the way, I was even able to test it there. Now I am ready to load it in the detector and see how it works there, then start looking for a day to take it hunting.

I know some have been telling me to take it slow, and that I was not going to take this long, but I have been really busy the past couple of weeks. It seems that this extra time in the evening is paying off, I am starting to understand this machine a little.

Next is getting him started with the Etrac Xchange software, he's got the link to the download and I also sent him a YouTube video with someone using the X-Change program.

I swing for 4 or 5 hours without using the sling. I have one but don't use it. I also am 69 and have been using my Etrac for years, started with the Explorer. What I do is shorten the shaft so the coil is not too far away from my body and my arm is straight. I may not cover as much ground on each swing but have no soreness or tired arms either. Love my Etrac. I also have a Deus but always favor my E.

sandnsea49, that will make two of us 69's swinging a E-Trac. The sling I use is on me most of the time, and all I need to do is hook it to a key ring that is attached to the base of the hand grip. Easy and quick on and off.

I already have my key ring installed on the E-Trac so I am ready to go if I can ever get a day to hunt.

Good to hear that there I am not the only old timer out there still trying to swing a detector.

No need for pictures, first hunt wasn't so good, only got 3 clad dimes and 5 pennies.

And a sore arm!

Even with using the sling all day it got the best of me. I may need to double up on the bungee cord.

It is a pretty heave machine.
