Night Hunting With The E-Trac !

E-Trac-Ohio

Well-known member
I had to pick up a load of saw dust for our horse stalls later in the day yesterday and I remembered that there's an abandoned Baseball field across the road from the saw mill.
I didn't expect to find any older coins - but the way I look at it - hunting for newer coins is better than not hunting for any coins at all !

I always bring the E-Trac with me every chance I get - even if I can only get an hour or so of hunting in. I also knew that it would be just about dark by the time I got the sawdust loaded.
I've wanted to see what hunting after dark would be like for a while now - why not ... the ET has a panel light - my Pro Pointer has a light and I also brought two little pocket flashlights with me in case I dropped something.

After a 1 1/2 hour hunt in total darkness I had dug ( 9 ) newer pennies, dimes and quarters and had a lot fun ! Night hunting is a little tougher than daylight hunting ... but it's cool !
With the days getting shorter - weather permitting - I'm planing on going a lot more night time hunts this winter!

Mark, been doing the same thing with mine.I use one of the energizer headband lights with the display panel illuminated and have had a blast hitting up this old field behind my house.Sounds like ur starting to get the hand of the E-trac!

Same over this way. Only problem I found was when the dew started to fall everything kind of starts to mud up on me LOL. Done it for a while when the heat of summer kicked in and like you said any hunt is a good hunt!

Yep ... we just had two days of heavy rain here and I came home covered with mud last night !
The good news is it makes for easier digging and it's also makes the holes "blend in" better after their filled in.

Sounds like a good time :) I have a lite that clips onto the Bill on my Hat.Has 3 L.E.D lights that are extremly brite for such a small light weight unit.Cost me 6 bucks at wal mart and it frees up the hands which is a big plus.Glad you got out..HH

I do a fair bit of night detecting in winter as I don't usually have a chance to get out until the kids are in bed.

I only use the panel light to do a quick check of the ID on the odd target otherwise the panel light makes it really hard to see the middle of the coil, blinds you a bit.

The other thing I did is put a small luminous sticker on the middle of the coil for when I'm pinpointing, that helps a lot.

Cheers
