I found my oldest Quarter today and when I dug it up in Ft Worth I had no idea what it was until I got home and cleaned it up. I only knew that it was silver...It turned out to be an 1871 Canadian silver Quarter....I will take it for sure.

A strip of sidewalk in an old ( early 1900) neighborhood...about 4" deep.
 
Very nice and unusual find that far from Canada - eh??
