so I headed out to one of those places you keep for days like this, when your strapped for time. Anyway, didn't turn up quite as old of coins as I did yesterday. But anytime I get back into the 1800's, I consider it a good outing. The 98 and 02 Barber dimes look like all the silver dug around here. But the copper and nickels came out of the ground looking like crap. But from what I can tell without scrubbing on them, the Shield nickel is an 1874, the V nickel is a 1902 and the IH cents are a pair of 1878's and one 1907. I'll give them a good soak and see what turns up. HH Randy

Nice finds again Randy! Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on the old coins.

Just curious Randy but why do you never posted pics after you clean up your coins? Great finds, but I would like to see em cleaned up!

I usually take a pic of my finds before I leave a site or have a chance to rinse them off. If I'm carrying a bottle of water, I let the IH cents soak as I hunt. The IH with the Seateds had been in water. I left the bottle home today, so these IH cents are crusty. The silver around here comes out looking like new, except for the dirt. Depending on where I dig them, the nickels and coppers can be pretty corroded.

I've rinsed off the past few days finds and taken a picture. Here is what they look like now.... as you can see, the silver is still silver and the nickels and IH cents are still pretty crusty.

Thanks Jimmy, Having all winter to research sites makes for some good spring hunting! But if you're interested, I'd gladly trade some of these Barbers and Indians for a few of those Capped Bust silvers and Colonial Coppers from your neck of the woods! :poke: HH Randy

Real nice coins - keep going back !!!

Holy moly :surprised:
