Sidewalk Strip Goodies

Hi everyone,

I've been having fun with some sidewalk strips lately. The first couple of pictures are from a 15' X 60' strip next to a 1888 church (now museum) in my town that I hit on Friday. The strip is pretty littered with iron chunks, sprinkler lines, and roofing nails, but the ol' E-Trac did manage to sniff out a couple of keepers. I was surprised that both were only about 4" deep.

1881 Indian Head (crusty as usual), indicated a solid 12-34

1957-D Rosie was only a one-way hit due to all the iron trash surrounding it (nicked another one :veryangry:)

Next, I obtained permission from a lady at my church to hunt the sidewalk strips around her 1920 home. She also told me her house was a parsonage for a church that once stood where her back yard is. She said I could hunt the whole yard if I wanted to. The next two pictures are what I pulled from a 10' X 50' sidewalk strip on one side of her lot today. All the keepers were 5" deep. I seemed to be having a bit of a challenge dealing with the "hot rocks" today--I was getting a fair amount of good target signals at 01-35 (I've found several IHP's with these numbers in the past). After pulling a plug, the good signal would disappear and I was able to confirm the false signal was being caused by the aggregate I pulled out of the hole.

1941-D Merc--these little beauties always put a smile on my face! :wiggle:

I still have a lot more area to cover around her house. I'm hoping the rest will be as productive as today was.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your next hunt!

Awesome Clad!!!! Man you're certainly on a Roll! I absolutely love hearing 12-34 on the E-Trac. The way I have mine set up, it has a "bell like ring" to it. Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on some great finds!

Cladiator, Those sidewalk strips are definately gold mines. You just never know what your going to pull up. Congrats on the nice finds.

Nice coins !
I've been doing some old sidewalk hunting myself - found a few good coins so far.

Congrats on the great finds. BTW, I love your screen name!

Cladiator, you are finding the silver stuff, nice going. I have to agree with Jason In Enid on your screen name.
But with you finding all this silver, I was thinking maybe you should drop the Clad part. I tried some new ones
that might fit better.

OH, I don't think any these will work, I guess you will just have to stick with Cladiator. HH - Randy

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I must admit, January has been a very good month for me, silver wise. The E-Trac does make finding the goodies a lot easier.

I hope everyone can get out soon and get some hunting in!
