 Has anyone every found any key date coins, i am still looking, thanks hh

I've found several Kevin.

In my total of "2" years of detecting I've dug a 1908s Indian Head and this year a 1869 IH (unfortunately its a railroad coin, so not worth much....but still a Key Date).

I've also dug a couple 1922 weak die D's...ironically in the same little out of the place park - 20 miles from the nearest town.

Goes4ever dug a 1916d Merc this year and I can remember RayMo showing us his 1914d Wheat a couple of years ago or so.

I feel pretty fortunate in digging what I would consider at least 2 Key daters and 2 semi-key daters in only 2 years.

Thanks Neb Trac
That is so cool.
That is what i love about this hobby it can make you feel like a little kid the day before Christmas, i just can't wait to find my first Key Date. I am that little Kid, lol.

Over the years I've found some keys. I found an 1895o Barber dime and a 1909s Indian cent within 10 feet of each other! I've also found a 1909s wheat (no VDB but lovely XF condition). I've also found a 1926s Buffalo nickel which is the lowest mintage of the series but not very valuable for some reason. My most exciting thing I ever pulled from the ground though was a 1911 Barber half in a lustrous almost uncirculated condtion. Practically a blast white unc coin!

Years ago, I found a 1917 over 1918 -D buffalo nickel

I found a 1909 svdb Wheatie this year. And a couple semi key coins. I love going back home and looking all my finds up its just as much fun as finding them!

1894O Barber is as close to a semi-key as I have found... 3 1909 wheats no S..... yet

No key date coins yet but ... I did find a semi-key date 1872 Indian Cent a few months ago.

HH --- Mark

semi key only, not worth much.
My soil really destroys copper, so if it was a key date it would be worthless.

i never really have....i guess my wish list would be a 16-D merc #1. after that I think it would be cool to find a 1918/7 SLQ. or any of the rare mercs such as the 21, 21d, or the 1942 overdates.

Thats what makes MD'ing so fun, isnt it? there are so many, many different goals you could set for yourself. (gold coin?)

my best was the 1916-D merc 264,000 minted

other ones not even close, but still semi keys, I included the mintage:

1895-0 barber dime 440,000
1909-O barber quarter 712,000
1916P walker half 608,000
1916-D walker half 1,014,400
1899 large 9 Canadian dime 1,200,000

indian pennies semi keys
1867, 1868, 1870, 1873, 1874, 1874, 1876, 1878, 1879, 1909

buffalo nickels
1917-D
1931-S

I have dug well over 2,000 wheats in 4 yrs and NO keydates, absolutely amazing. Another reason I dislike wheats, to me they are worthless and I sell em all on ebay...lol

I got a 1866 indian in a 6 indian coin spill 30 yrs ago (still got em).
two 1870 Indianheads stuck together,(both very poor cond) 1875,1878,1879 indians
1911s-1910s wheaties 30 yrs ago , and found a1922D wheatie in a coin spill 2 months ago. (with V3i)
all are probably considered semi key date coins. But we just keep pressing on trying to find
those key dates.:detecting:
You may have read in western and eastern treasure mag a few months ago one old feller
found a 1877 indianhead then not long after found another one.:surprised: it happens!

HH and Happy NEW YEAR :clapping:

I figure any coin I had fun finding was a key date. Boise has been hit pretty hard by some of the best detectorists in the US. Idigid

I got to thinking. DIGGER (on the X-Terra section) has dug TWO...yes 2 - 1877 Indian Heads. That would be awesome. Be able to sell on and still have one.

My best was the 1895o Barber Dime followed by semi-keys 3-1914d pennies a 1914d Buffalo,2-1896s Barber dimes and a 1901s and the 1919d SL Quarter all found in the last 2 years with my trusty E-Trac :detecting:

Been hunting since 1970 found a lot of key date coins most of the in the early days and not very deep,Have never found a 16D Merc.I sell everything I find since day one.Not counting caches or gold rings.I would say by best Key date coin find was 3 1921 Mercs in the same plug 2 of which were 21D found under rural mail box.I found a couple of 1877 IH but the most back then I could get for them was around 35 dollars a piece still good money.
