 Has anyone every found any key date coins, i am still looking, thanks hh

Found the 1885 and 1912-S v-nickels and the 1864-L indian cent.. 1970's finds. This last spring my wife found a 1916 obverse S walking liberty half.

Yes I did mean 1883.1853 would have been a REAL REAL key date. My mistake but it did have cents on the back. SORRY

I've. Found a few key dates, but this year my best is a 1914 D wheatie ! Its not the best of condition but I won't forget it, a couple of us were hunting a spot when I found it, I announced it was a 1914 , and one of the guys stated hopefully a D mint mark, I didn't check it untill I got home that night, but when I did, there it was a 1914 D wheatie !

And all within a 12 month period of time. The third one was pretty well toasted, compared to the other two. But heck, I'll take all I can get! Best part is........I found them all with my Minelabs! Worst part is I'll probably have to wait another 37 years to find that fourth one! HH Randy

I dug an 1885 V nickle 3 years ago and sold it..I have no idea why I did that being it may be the only key date coin I dig. You never know in this hobby. A guy offered cash and gas was 4 bucks a gallon then..... I am still kicking myself.

1909 S vdb
1921 d merc

both in 2011

1909-O barber quarter 712,000

I can give you the complete story on this coin......

Goes4ever: "Hey Nonickels, what side of the yard do you want to start on?"
Nonickels: "I will take the left side"
G4E: Ten minutes later from the right side of the yard, with 3 silver already in his pocket "Hey, come over here and tell me what this looks like in the bottom of this hole"
Nonickels: Walks over and looks in hole to see the reverse of a perfectly identifiable 1909-O Barber quarter looking up at him.
........
Nonickels: Hits G4E with a shovel

The End

Have not found any key dates yet, but I did find the following coins, which are pretty neat.

1816 Coronet Large One Cent (Matron Head)
1834 Bust Dime
1847 Seated Half Dime

We seem to get several 1924 D Wheaties up here in ND each year, I got a real nice 1931 S Wheaties and we seem to get some 22 Wheaties that look like they are plain or weak D. Got a very nice 1895 O Barber dime and a 1894 O barber dime too. The same week I got the 95 O I got a rare Canadian dime too a 1875 H at the same old park. Too bad it was in bad shape plus I scratched it too.
One of the guys up here got a 16 D merc and another got a 1909 S IH penny, so there seems to be a few out there waiting to be found. I want to find the 1916 D merc and a 1909 S VBD wheat penny before i hang up my detectors.

I have been hunting since 1960 and have almost a whole roll of 1912-D wheats. have several 1931-S's, got a really nice 1876-S seated quarter, found and sold a 1921 peace dollar about 20 years ago. Got $350.00 for it. I have over 100 rolls of wheats, I used to roll them by the decade, I'll have to get the rolls out and search for more keys and semi-keys.........NGE

My first year with the Etrac I got an 1864"L" IH, and this year being year 3 I found an 1909s IH. Gotta love them IH's, this year found a 1875cc seated dime, and 2 1871 1r reales. The Reales don't know if they are semi or not just really awesome finds.

I found an 1894-O Barber dime in April 2010 while hunting a grass lot where a school once stood. I didn't realize it was a key date when I found it. However I thought it was cool because it was from the 1800's and it had the New Orleans mint mark. I got excited when I got home and looked it up in a coin prices magazine and discovered it was rare. You just never know what you're going to unearth...as many here can attest to. I am privileged to know two fellow Ohio detectorists who have found 1916-D Mercury dimes  - Terry Barnhart (Goes4ever) - who we all know very well - and Mike Haer (Buckeyedigger). I've also had the honor of meeting and detecting with both of these men. They are top notch guys and dedicated, enthusiastic detectorists. Yup, there is still treasure out there waiting to be found.
