SunRay X1 for E-Trac

Well I couldn't resist ordering the SunRay Pinpointer for my E-Trac. Bart at BigBoysHobbies helped me get a left hand version expidited to me for vacation next week. I hope it works as well as most people say! How many of my fellow E-Trac posters have one of these?

there the best got 2 of them i carry the Pro pointer but i always go for the inline first. however if I'm having trouble locating a target i will grab the pro pointer its less work than reaching for the pinpoint button.

Adds a little weight but I wouldn't hunt without anymore. They rock!

You will not regret getting the Sun-Ray probe. What I like about the X-1 probe is it discriminates and finds the target your coil located. And after you recover the target don't forget to switch back to coil. I have made that mistake myself. HH

Yes, Bart is a good guy and so is his supplier. They sell for $230 shipped. If you want to send in your metal detector middle tube section for them to mount the switch on you can get it for $40 cheaper but you will have a little extra shipping and won't have your detector for a couple weeks maybe. Can't wait to try mine out. Hopefully this Sat. Not too much time left...it was 11 deg F. this morning but still no snow!

The Sunray X1 pin-pointer is the ONLY pin-pointer out there that can discriminate between different metals. That alone makes it worth buying.
It adds a little weight to the detector but it doesn't add much. The only bad part is having to remember to flip that darn switch back and forth from coil to probe.

I own a Garrett pin-pointer and a Sunray X1 pin-pointer. I almost never use the Garrett. In my opinion, the Sunray X-1 is a lot better pin-pointer.

I don't understand why Minelab or Fisher or Garrett or one of those other companies hasn't invented something like this and made it part of their detectors.

Sunray is the best for new comers, but its has more minuses than Garrett. First its less sensitive to small targets, second its connected on coil cable and do to this you have very -very.. small drop of signal, another minus is if X-1 cable will broke you will have not working detector in the middle detecting day, if no spare upper shaft in the bag. its possible to solve this problem by making bigger hole in the upper shaft for X-1 connector in the shaft. I personally think garret is better.

I use them both and they are a good team! The X1 discriminates and goes deeper for pinpointing on the surface. Once I dig the plug and it is in the dirt pile I use the garret to find it. They compliment each other I think. JMOP
