did a VERY light cleaning to remove some of the green, do you think it looks better? I am pleased with the results. here is one by itself then also a side by side before and after, click the picture to enlarge
 
Yep..it looks better..........did cleaning hurt the value or wasn't it that valuable.

yes it is a very valuable coin, but sometimes cleaning INCREASES value, especially on dug items
 
The Nickel looks much better.
You could take it to your local coin dealer - see if he has a dip that can be used on it - maybe there's something similar to "Coin-Solv" - like they use on Silver coins ?
 
Nice nickel. Is the nickel still valuable even though it is pitted? I know how to get the red out but, you'd have to mildly tumble it to get the nickel color back........nge
 
I think it looks a lot better. As far as its value, it will always be what it is. Its rare but dug. Its in darn nice shape for a dug coin. I know goes would never sell it, so I think the cleaning was a big improvement. I would probably just stop there though.
