Ya I too wonder if White's will be coming out with anything new. I wish they would just take the whole "M" series MX5,M6 and MXT All Pro) and give them honest to goodness updates. Call them the M5, M7 and M9.
I find it strange that the lower end Coinmaster GT that has a MSRP of $399.95 has a Backlight and Trac lock feature ( to lock the GB) Now we jump to the MX5 ( MSRP $599.95)which is feature rich but does not give you the ability to lock the GB , a Trac lock feature, a feature that is found on their cheaper machine. This is the only reason that stopped me from getting one. I hunt iron infested sites and the GB will get outta sorts in those kinda sites due to all the iron trash and the auto tracking trying to deal with it. That is the reason to have a lock trac function.
Then we have the M6 (MSRP $699.95) which lacks a threshold and also has no back light ( although I think they intended for this machine to be more of a silent search machine, hence the lack of a threshold adjustment)
But does have the abilty to lock the GB and then the MXT All Pro at MSRP $899.95 I will say that the jump from the MXT 300 to the MXT Pro did add some nice features such as the 3 buttons on the TID display for Tones. Ground Grab and Backlight, while getting rid of the Notch feature.
So maybe give a new MX5 the ability to lock the GB.
Update the M6 to have a backlight, a tones button and ground grab, basically giving it the same TID display as the current MXT All Pro. And eliminate having to push the PP button in the forward position. Maybe add in a threshold adjustment too.
The MXT All Pro is maybe get rid of the Icons and actually put more useful information on the display such as ground phase, which you can get but you have to switch to Prospecting Mode to see it. Maybe also give it an "Iron Audio feature and a means to control iron audio volume and perhaps a manual GB along with the auto trac feature.
Don't take me wrong I really like Whites and the machines that they produce.( See my signature) I have found lots of nice old coins and tokens with the M6 and MXT Pro.......but sometimes the way things are done are a bit confusing......its kinda like Ford saying we will put cruise control on our Ford Escorts but we will not put that feature on our Lincoln Town Cars.
Seems lately they have kinda stumbled around a bit. The MX5 did come out but lacked a key feature, then they took the MXT Pro...slapped a little "ALL" sticker on the side of the box, gave it a different coil....not really the kinda updates I was looking for. I think as far as performance, the M series is there..........I just wish we had more feature options to really get the most out of each machine. For example, the new Macro Racer that is about ready to pop onto the scene. I had a chance to use the one Monte got to test and evaluate. Not only is it a great performer, but it is also loaded with a bunch of useful features. It has a back light, ground phase, auto GB and manual GB ,ability to lock the GB,a threshold just to name a few ie: in order to get all the features that this machine offers i would just about have to buy three different Whites machines to get them all.
And I see Whites just recently lost a couple key people, don't know if that will have an effect on the company or not.
Also please don't take this as a "gripe" from me, they have great machines. But instead of something new, take the great machines they already have and just make them a little greater by adding features, or features that are lacking and should be there ( M6 with a backlight for example )
As far as the V series machines, never really did get into those....so I'll leave that to the folks that use them to add their own "wish list" so to speak.
