Went Dirt Fishin' again this weekend and FINALLY brought home a Keeper! Part:1.:bouncy:

I FINALLY got a FISH! It looks like a Salmon. I bet you all were thinking "What the heck is this guy talking about. He always brings home Keepers!". Just had to throw that one in there and catch you all off guard. Anyways, I hit a Park, 2 Ball Diamonds and a Fairground this weekend. Most of the finds came from the Fairgrounds that just keeps throwing me Goodies. I even had a Quarter give me a 25 ID on Digital this weekend that should have been an Indian Head but turned out to be a No Date Standing Liberty Quarter. Must have been on edge! I also removed a New Zinc Penny from the surface from a Pounded Area where I got a lot of Silver at and rescanned and there was a ID of 27. Wheat Penny I thought! Dug it and a 28-d Merc pops out. Cooool!!! Now onto the finds! I'll start with the Clad Count. I dug 16 Quarters, 29 Dimes, 2 Nickels, and 84 Pennies. Total = $7.84. Not bad and could have had more but towards the end on Sunday, I just started going for the Deeper Targets in hopes of getting my 23 Silver that I wanted to get before the weather turns Cold. OK! Now your sitting there thinking "did he get the 23 Silver he needed!" and the answer is NO! But hold on a minute! I may not have gotten the 23 I needed but I did get 18 of them. That's right! 18 Silver this weekend and 12 were found on Saturday alone! For Silver, I found 1 No Date Standing Liberty Quarter (Variety 2), 14 Mercury Dimes dated 20-s (high grade),28,28-d,31,39,40,41,41-d,41-s,42-d,43,(2)44,44-d, and 3 Roosevelt Dimes dated 51-d,63-d, and 64-d. 5 More Silver!!! Might get it during the week since I want to try to get into a Yard and should have no problem getting permission. We will see. For Nickels, I dug 2. They were 1 Silver Jefferson War Nickel dated 1945-d and 1 Regular Jefferson Nickel dated 1946-d. I found 1 Indian Head also. It is dated 1901. Misc. Finds were a Salmon, what I think are 3 Combing Tools, some misc. Tags, 2 Copper Rings, a piece of Jewelery with a Stone in it, a Square Item with the Letter A on it, some kind of Jewelery with CMS on it that the Letters are made out of Silver, and an Oval Eyelet. The Wheat Pennies and Tokens will be posted in Part:2. Hope you enjoy my finds and thanks for looking. Good Luck and HH to you all once again.:detecting: [attachment 71785 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 71822 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 71789 DirtyNickelsandIndianHead.jpg][attachment 71821 CleanedNickelsandIndianHead.jpg][attachment 71805 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 71820 CleanedMisc..jpg]

Found 12 Silver on Saturday and the other 6 on Sunday. Could have had more but didn't feel like driving any further to get them. Always next weekend! Good Luck and HH Daveo on your next outing.:detecting:

that is almost impossible to do since it is easy to swing. Maybe after 2 Days straight hunting (without sleeping non stop), then the arm might feel like Jello. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH Bryce at that Old Park you were at. :super:

Here is the rest of the finds made during the weekend. I found 2 Junk Tokens used for Gaming at the Fair. One has a Clown on the Front and on the Back it has an Eagle. The Second Token has a Steam Liner on the Front and has No Cash Value on the Back. For Wheat Pennies, I dug another 60. Sure have been getting a lot of Wheat Pennies lately! They are dated (2)09,12,14,16,17,17-d,18,(2)19,(3)20,(2)25,29,(3)29-d,(2)30-d,31,32,34,35-d,37-d,39,(2)40,41-d,42,(2)44,(4)44-d,(2)44-s,(2)45-d,(5)46-d,(4)47-d,(2)48-d,49-d,50-d,50-s,52-d,(2)55-d,56-d, and 58-d. That does it for the finds. I wish you all the Best of Luck and HH if you are able to get out during the work week and Thanks Again for Looking.[attachment 71839 DirtyTokensFront.jpg][attachment 71844 CleanedTokensFront.jpg][attachment 71840 DirtyTokensBack.jpg][attachment 71848 CleanedTokensBack.jpg][attachment 71849 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 71850 CleanedWheats.jpg]

I don't think these Combs are for Dogs. They are made of Heavy Metal with Metal spikes. Maybe for some other animal. Sure is odd to find Indian Heads and Wheat's without any Silver! Someone must have been Cherry Pickin' for Silver. Don't lose Hope! There is always Silver to be found if other Old Coins are present. Just go SLOW and listen for them Deep Coin Hits. Good Luck and HH to you.

Try too imagine 90+ Books and all the Info they will yield on other sites. Kinda Scary isn't it? Thanks for the response and glad you liked the Haul. Good Luck and HH!

That is one awsome weekend there James....You know what is funny is I just watched a vid on the bottle forum about saving history and they were digging civil war stuff and a letter from a hat and a 4 leaf clover similar to what you got was found.....check it out.....congrats!!

Besides being consumed with envy:jump:, I am impressed with the way you've cleaned your coins. How do you do it?

Silver when Black or has other Crud on it, I will use Electrolysis to try and remove whatever may be on the Coin. Sometimes it will take the Black off of Silver but sometimes it won't. Then you have to use some other methods of cleaning the Silver like Cigarette Ashes. Your probably saying "Cigarette Ashes? Why?". This is a method that Rick(ND) came up with. If you have a Blackened Silver Coin, just take and rinse the Coin under Water and take the Ashes, put it on your Fingers and rub the Coin between your Thumb and your Index Finger for about 20 Seconds or so. Then rinse and see what the results are. Rick had also tried Ashes from his Wood Burner but I don't like this method as much since it seems that there is always something grainie in it that will scratch the Coins surface. For Pennies and Nickels, I boil Peroxide sometimes and insert the Coins in the solution and let them boil for a bit. Do Not use Peroxide on Silver! It will Dull the Coins to a Grey Look and it will be hard to get them too look normal without using some kind of Polish. Recently though, I have just been running them under the Faucet and using my Fine Bristle Brass Brush on them and it seems to clean them quite nicely, and without Scratching the Coins. Hope this is what you needed to know and Good Luck and HH to you CAgem.

Just to add to this.....baking soda does a good job...make a paste and rub it in with fore finger and thumb....and rinse.....don't use on key dates or valuable silver......it will also take a bee stinger out if you make the paste and let it dry on wound.......it drys and sucks the bad stuff out.....fyi....lol......

Sorry Jbow! But you have to admit that you set yourself up for that one.;) I do share some of the info I get to others but usually if it's a type of get together hunt. But I will help others out if they need some info on a site that they don't know much on, that is if I have any idea of what they are talking about. Good Luck and HH.
