Manticore vs Legend

As stated in the above:
Inquiry
To circumvent
any of my members being admonished for having this discussion here.
Should this be discussed on a thread for comparing metal detectors.

I would never say anything intentionally to offend any of my fellow members, and I am only hoping this is received in the
manner it is intended. Is this better received than otherwise
?

Why did you miss-state what I had posted and leave my 'fellow members', out making it read 'my members' and then, you allude to the preposterous assertion I stated, 'my members'?
Why did you do that? You made that statement say something that I did not say!

The above is from my original post in what you refer to as:
Please clarify “ my members being admonished “ as you stated in
my thread.
Is this your forum?, do you own the members, perhaps they work for you?
Yes i am having hard time understanding your language

Why did you miss-quote me? I did not say my members! The narrative explains exactly my intentions were to circumvent any being admonished
for posting in a thread not designated for discussing Main Comparison Detecting Forum. To circumvent any of my members being admonished for having this discussion here. . . . I would never say anything intentionally to offend any of my fellow members, Ante. That statement has to be read as a narrative in its' entirety. You have taken that out of context to make it read something that it does not state!

WOW man, are you playing everyone on here for a fool ?
We all have this thing called a computer and the internet.
All anyone has to do is go to my thread “Legend vs Manticore” on the Nokta “Legend” forum and read, that’s exactly what you said. I actually copied and pasted it on the reply because i did not want to “miss-quote” you.
Ante:
You just said i miss- quoted you and that you did NOT say “ my members “ and in the same paragraph you just quoted yourself as saying “ my members” but I somehow took your quoted words out of context? And that i have to “read the narrative in its entirety “ like that is going to change the fact that you actually and just admittedly did say it ?
Well then lets just assume for a moment i don’t know the English language as you said and that i took it out of context.
You didn’t read my narrative in its entirety where i asked you to clarify why you said “my members” therefore taking mine out of context.
Instead of clarifying it you just spun it around with all this mumbo jumbo and to boot on top of everything you accused me of making something that it is not which is exactly what i said you were doing with my entire thread a couple weeks ago when i first posted it.
All this in a 2am reply questioning MY state of mind ?
I just have to ask at this point. Are you a democrat by chance?
Or maybe go by other names such as Biden, Harris ? Or Psaki, CJP perhaps?
this is eerily reminiscent.

Why don't you two fellows go the P M route and quit cluttering up a couple forums with your petty arguments. You are each at the point your rants are no longer about metal detecting. HH jim tn
Well said Mr. Jim 👍

We can probably agree to disagree.
We will probably end up best of friends Is how things used to work out lol

9 months from now there will be lots of them available for 30% less and very little will not be in the ground that is there now. ML depends on marketing fervor to make a big splash as do the other companies. There are too many details yet to be determined. I'm the ultimate skeptic but I'm also on a waiting list.:)

I do agree that Minelab has their marketing group celebrate the release of new detectors. But if I go back 20+ years, all of the big splash detectors I used were hits when it came to sales/performance.

I'm thinking the Explorer Series, Etrac, Equinox and now . . . . . what's it called again? Oh, the manticore. I did not get the CTX 3030 like many, but it too was very popular considering it's hefty price tag.

I'm trying to think if there were lemons during this time ? ? ? ? ? ? Not coming to mind.

They made the price point for the manticore pretty high.

WHY???...because they can price it whatever they want to and they know people are going to buy it whether it works good or not.

I hope it works great for those who want one.

I also think when it hits the market........people will try it out and go back to their equinox.

A beep and dig machine can still find as much or more than the modern bells and whistle unit.

Another thing to consider is this new Manticore might flop too and be a big dud on the market.

That has happened with all of the companies.

I do not understand why companies are starting to show off unit before a release and get everyone excited and all claiming it is the best unit ever developed with their engineering team.....and then make the public wait unit it passes all of the test and firmware works right.

Guys may be waiting another 6 months before it hits the market.

While the legend users are having a blast and actually detecting with a complete set up of digging tools, pinpointers, the unit itself, extra coil, headphones, gas and lunch money too for under 1000.00.

Now, if we look at it this way, the legend is the real winner here and leaves the minelab manticore lacking with every aspect of the hobby.

1. The Minelab fans will likely buy the Manticore at the release despite the $1599 US price. However, if it fails to perform or is some sort of big mess, you can bet that word will get around very quickly and sales will fall off big time.

2. Try the Manticore than return to the Equinox? If the features on the Manticore are functional as they are being described by Minelab, I see the Manticore as an upgraded Etrac. Loved my etrac and was very successful with it. That said, I love my equinox even more than my old etrac. The only way i can see myself returning to my 800 is if the Manticore fails to perform in some significant manner. Otherwise, it is all my 800 can be and then some.

3. Beep and Digs outperform the Equinox / Legend / Deus 2 to name just a few. Nope. Don't agree with that at all. Any of these detectors can be a beep and dig in a moment. It all comes down to how i use my audio and visual information. I can use my 800 as a beep and dig. Kicker is that I have audio target ID. Lots of character in the audio target ID that I do not have in my Tesoro's. I have Visual ID if I want - but the audio rules.

Also, I can buckle down and recover all of the signals in an area with any detector I own. I can go all metal if i want. Detectors like my 800 also allow me to differentiate what is under my coil. Then I can make a decision of what to do next. Lots of detectorists use their Target ID / audio ID for reasons Not To Recover a given target. Wrong attitude in my mind. I'm looking for reasons TO DIG.

Just the world according to me.

Best of luck on your next hunt.

I actually like the 800 and 600 design for that matter, but the leak issue turned me off.
Thats not something that can be fixed with a firmware update. The fact that ML didn’t seem to want to correct that flaw I would categorize as a lemon.

I had the Nox 800 for 4 years, it did awesome without any leaks. Decided to get rid of my backups and get the 600 just for water hunting. After a 1 1/2 still no leaks and have found more than enough gold jewelry to pay for it. Plus you add in all the silver it’s paid for itself multiple times. I always let my detectors pay for themselves and the next one. im buying the Manticore because I hope it will clarify the targets mor, separate better and 2d will give more specifics on weather to dig or not. Loved m Whites V3i for this reason. The 3 color bar graph worked awesome. If the Manticore can’t deli on its promises them I’ll sell it and use my Nox’s. I’m betting the Manticore will be a big game changer like the Nox. I don’t know if I can dig much deeper in the parks with a screw driver but I’m sure going to give it my best shot

Lemon my azz!
I like your way of thinking!
My leak-free Equinox has almost paid for itself...
2 gold rings, and a large box of clad and silver!
I have not counted it all, and Im not sure what the gold is worth, but I have a feeling my Equinox has almost paid itself off!
And when it does, a brand new Manticore will be purchased.
But my Equinox will NOT be going anywhere!
Its a keeper!

This thing is still not released and the way it looks it will be 2023 before it does hit the market.

Why all of the concern about a unit no one can even purchase??
I don’t know maybe all the hype…
Overselling something that isn’t even available for another year. You think?
And asking people to prepay $1600 for something you can’t tell them any idea when they can get it or any proven features that warrant the price.
Seriously,So i have this thing im going to sell sometime in the future, its going to be great. I don’t know when ill sell it or if it works good but if you send me $500 now i will hold onto it for you.
Just pm me if you’re interested.

Guys, why do you all fall for the hype every single time a new detector is advertised claiming the latest greatest technology. The way manufacturers claim that their new techno marvel will change everything for everyone you would think we could now be able to pick up a small coin buried underneath a cruise ship.Got to buy a nox,got to buy a legend, got to buy a Deus, got to buy a new manticore which will blow everything else out of the water.
Give yourselves a reality check and look back on all the new high tech models which have made a significant impact on your finds rates........none.......and that's why every single time a new model is advertised people look to that because they think it will find them more than the last hyped up model they bought on false promises.
It's hilarious how different models cause so much argument when in reality they all find about the same amount of stuff over a seasons detecting........they are all half decent machines and not one has any massive advantage over another in terms of finds rates.
The manticore will come and go just like every other new model has in the past.......its in manufacturers interests to keep performance levels around the same in every detector they bring out......if they produced the perfect machine it would massively impact sales.
I have four detectors and they are all old hat,the reason I don't change them is because they find me a lot of stuff, just as much as the latest models do in reality.......I have been in this hobby too long to fall for bullcrap that streams out of the marketing men's mouths.
Just saying.🤣

I agree with you. When I started metal detecting with a BH Pioneer 505 back in 2001 I was pretty happy with it for years. Then I started looking for an upgrade in 2010. At the time the Etrac was all the hype. The Etrac was next level compared to the 505. Wanting to learn more I joined this forum, big mistake lol. After dealing with a bad board on the Etrac, I found tons of silver and large cents over the next 2 years. That wasn't good enough, so many YouTube "experts" claiming that their detector was "superior", I bought into the hype. I've owned many detectors since joining. Etrac, G2, Infinium, Nautilus, F75, T2, Sand Shark, DFX, CTX 3030, Compadre, Makro CF77, Sovereign, Deus, Amphibio Multi, Simplex, Legend. I Bonded best with the Etrac over all. (Don't have enough time with the Legend just yet)
Each unit had something I didn't like, mostly weight emi or tones.
I miss my days with the Etrac!
Lol my whole point is YouTube "experts" started the "hype train" for me, damn you self proclaimed YouTube expert!
Not blaming them for it all, some were right time/place deals.
I am watching the manticore closely, thinking, hoping it might be a faster and lighter Etrac!
Just have to give my enabler Richard a shout for a couple of trades so I can afford it.....

Preach it Nauti.
Not to mention the hype used to be on detectors that cost $300-$800
Now they want $1200-$1600) and up for the latest and greatest.

Water inside a control housing is a pretty big turn off. I've used mine a lot in the shallow water, but not as a submersible. And you're right, this needs / needed a hardware fix, not a software upgrade. And then there are the coil ears that lack structural intergrity for those poor souls leaning on their detector while shallow water hunting. Snap crackle pop. Fortunately, neither has happened to me, knock on wood, but it could. Grateful neither has happened to this point.

That said, like many others have stated about their equinox's, my 800 has been a tremendous detector. Pleasant to use and capable. And for some, a detector needs to pay its' way with finds. If I'm being conservative, mine has done this a couple times, likely closer to three.

But more than that, it has made my detecting outings fun and enjoyable, and due to past performance, each time I go out, I anticipate making good finds.

Regardless of brand / model of detector you use, if you have a detector like this, you have a real keeper.

I might actually pick one up now that the prices are coming down

No Significant impact in find rates? Your results differ from mine. A lot.

However, you make a very true and powerful point - Use what works. And I'll add, Be SMART in changes to what you use. Whatever you decide to use, there is still WORK involved.

Best of luck in the field.

Let me explain why I said "none"..........as an example the explorer, explorer 2,explorer se,etrac, ctx.
Each one of these models was bought out to supercede the previous at much higher prices and promising more to find more.In reality, and i've owned many minelabs, the old explorer is still a match for the etrac on most targets you will swing your coil across,we've done many tests like this out in the field (where it matters) by comparing older models to new ones and not just with minelab detectors. The results are usually predictable.......the newest latest greatest models don't do much more than the previous best and this has become more apparent with the later tech machines.I think manufacturers have hit a wall as far as real innovation goes so they have to dress each new model up in new clothes, wrapped over fundamentally the same tech.So out comes the manticore which promises much.........let's see minelab do a real world test on real world targets for potential buyers showing them how this new model will find more than say the etrac,of course they won't because they would never sell one.🤣
