First time out with the CTX3030 :detecting:

The weather in SE WI has improve, so I got a chance to try my new :minelab: CTX3030 that has been collecting dust since I got it January 25, 2013. I only went in my yard, with no big expectations, but I needed the experience with the new detector. I am very happy with the CTX3030 and I am...

What it`s like now in SE WI

This time of year it`s hard to metal detect here. I wish I had some nice silver to show, but this is Wisconsin after all. I wanted to get some practice posting a video, I hope I did it right, I hope I have no ads, here goes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqX1INxMqzQ

Fast Cars, Young Woman, and Old Whiskey :nono:

Main hobby is fast cars. Young woman elude me, and old whiskey affects my thinking (about young woman). I have a 67 Chevy Nova, with a 396 BB Chevy, and a 99 Corvette. Both are fun to drive on warm summer days.

Get my CTX3030, and can`t use it!

How many (like me) out there recently received a new :minelab: CTX3030 and can`t use it, because it is frozen outside. Warm here today (60) , but only 1" of mud on top of who knows how much frozen. I played with it in the 2" of snow (before it melted) looking for some clad I planted, looking...

Todays meager hunt minus the trash. :detecting:

Got out this morning with the AT Pro, for an 1-1/2 hr hunt, upper 30`s, and winds off Lake Michigan at 20 mph. Not the best conditions. Did have some luck with clad and a Sterling ring. My season is almost over.

Terry Herbert`s Staffordshire Hoard .

Very interesting program on National Geographic TV, and article in November National Geographic Magazine about Terry Herbert. A detectorist from England who found the Staffordshire Hoard in 2009. He received or will receive half of the $5.3 million treasures worth. :yikes: What a post that...

    Code of Ethics.

Recently I asked a question is anyone out there detecting, because I had not seen one other detectorist. After I made the post I ran into someone wading and detecting the shore of Lake Michigan. I got to talk t him, and he seemed like a nice guy. Today I did not see anyone detecting, but I...

    Finally, silver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :super:

This morning was my morning. I was working a 100+ year old park that I have hunted before. Detecting a big flat part of the park where they hold special events. I had found 2 copper pennies so far on the flat. I was swing the coil over a promising target, I looked up and saw all these kid...

Maiden voyage with the Explorer SE Pro :detecting:

I have a lot to learn about the Explorer SE Pro, but so far I like it. I took it to my relatively trash free ball diamond this morning, and had some luck. Found my usual amount of clad, and a .925 Mexican ring. I finally had some silver at the bottom of the hole.

    E-Trac:unsure:Explorer SE?

I am trying to figure out the difference between the E-Trac and the Explorer SE. Other than some differences in the controls, and the E-Trac having the USB connection, most of the features on both machine seen similar. What are the advantages of each. I would appreciate any information.

It arrived in the mail, and I`m ready to dig:minelab:

It arrived in the mail this morning. Thank you Bryce for running the contest:yo:The :minelab:Explorer forum is great. I like reading the posts from all you:minelab:Explorer users. Very interesting, inspiring, and informative. I hope I give this :minelab:digger a good home, one that provides...

    Personal opinion of T2 15" DD Coil:thumbup:

This is just my view of the T2 15" DD coil. I liked it, 25% deeper than the 11" DD coil and it can cover lots of ground, but heavier. Perhaps a more experienced detectorist than myself could handle some of the problems I had because it covered more area and went deeper. In an area with very...

I am trying to understand what my AT Pro is saying:help:

I am hunting an old farm. As anyone that has hunted a site like this knows, it is littered with iron, and every kind of trash imaginable. I have pulled 3 Wheat's (54-44-42), and some clad to date. I run my AT Pro in Pro mode Custom, disc @ 35, and sensitivity @ 4-5 bars. While swing the coil...

    Question for shallow water detecting?

I went to a fresh water swimming beach this morning with my AT Pro, waders, long handle sand scoop, and floating sifter. Any one that does this regularly must have one heck of a strong right arm. I knew it would be hard swing in the water, but after 2 hours I was getting really tired. I was...
