Question about target responses on the concentric v DD coil.

Hi all. I was wondering if the TID is noticeably more stable with say the 6x9 concentric coil than the standard DD coil on the AT Pro? I'm also interested to know if the pinpointing is more accurate with the concentric coil? I've used a mates AT Pro and noticed that for targets about 4in deep...

A US dime on the wrong side of the world meets a couple of Chinese.

Went to a neighbouring town 130kms away to pick up my son from a trip, so I packed the 1500 to fill in a few hours while I waited. It was a pretty hot day (around 38C) and found that I was drinking way more water than normal. Anyway I had a park in particular in mind that was worth a good...

    The GTI strikes again.

Hi all. Happy new year! It was a good time to dust the 1500 off and take it with me for a trip to Sydney. I haven't been able to hunt down there for quite some considerable time. Hopefully be moving much closer in a few more years but that's a different story. Given that I've hardly used the...

Wouldn't it be awesome if Garrett brought out the Ace 250 with the pro mode!

In my books, it would make it a perfect detector for coin shooting. Having played around with the US version AT Pro, the pro mode provided real great audio feed back, which was the only thing missing from the 250. Apart from that, I found the 250 to be a perfect detector. I still haven't come...

    At Gold modes?

I've been trying to find what is notched out on the different modes on the AT Gold. There doesn't seem to be any information on the Garrett website or it's agents. Is there someone out there that can tell me what is notched out on the 3 different modes? Thanks. Mick Evans.

I just twigged why the GPS is a real good idea on the detector.

It means that you can keep track of the ground you have passed your coil over,. Sweet. The same idea is used on farm equipment ie headers, It allows for effectient ground coverage without over lap. Good thinking Minelab. Something else I noticed when I saw a close up picture of the control...

It looks like a new detector from Minelab.

I just noticed the banner at the top of the of Findmall for a new Minelab machine called the 3030. It looks like it'll been an improved and waterproofed E-Trac. I was wondering when they were going to update it. It looks like it will be a week before they release all the details and the 28th of...

    Detector powered vehicles.

I've Haven't been able to get out too often over the last couple of years as most of the productive detecting spots seem to have either dried up or had high fences put around them. However, I've been looking at possible detector powered motor vehicles recently; most notably motor scooters. It's...

Rain, rain go away. so I can go detect another day:ausflag:

We've had both extremes in weather over the last number of years. 2 years ago, my work place (an abattoir) cut a shift off it's production due 11 years of drought. We are still working with that restriction and now have the opposite problem due to large widespread heavy rain, currently causing...

X-Terra. To boldly go where the Explorer couldn't!

I had the opportunity to get out of town over the week end and hunt a couple of sites that I've had on my radar for a few years, but haven't been able to justify the distance to get to them. One location gets a mega crowd to it, while one only gets around 10 000 or so to it. When I arrived at...

    Noise cancelling question.

I'm curious, How you know which is the best Chanel to select when you have to manually noise cancel? Although I have the 70 with it's auto mode, I was showing a newbie around a 305 the other day and apart from observing the effects of EMI after using it for a while. This doesn't necessarily give...

Has anybody been in contact with Uncle Willy?

I can only assume that his lack of ability to post means things aren't real flash, but it would be great if some who has had contact with him is able to fill us in on how he is going. thanks. Mick Evans.

The screw cap turns 122 today.

Somebody ought to be drawn and quartered for this insane invention. Fancy not thinking about us poor metal detectorists when they came up with this one. On the up side, there's bound to be a screw cap collector out there somewhere that we can value add our finds with. Mick Evans.

The humble screw cap turned 122yrs old today.

First patented in England. I wonder if there are screw cap collectors out there?:detecting: Just think, when you recover a screw cap, you may be unearthing some history. Mick Evans.

    GTI verses Cibola:detecting:

While in Sydney at the week end, I managed to team up with a forum member, Elroy. We went to one of my honey holes, Elroy armed with a Cibola armed with the 18x3 inch cleansweep coil and myself with the GTI 1500. Elroy also brought his GTI 2500 as well. He let me hunt with both his detectors and...
