Its Shaping Up To Be A Great Year

Who would have thought we would still be detecting in January. In 2011 I only found 5 silver coins for the whole year. Yesterday and today I tied that number. Found 4 yesterday and 1 more today. I have so much work to do that I don't know where to start so I think I will let the work slide for 1...

That's a dandy indian. Don't you just love finding those, especially an 1800's in that condition.

Visitors From the North.... Looking for Relics Down South (Part 3)

Nice, some great finds. Loved watching the videos. Larry, hope to see your finds when you get back. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in an artifact/relic rich area like that. HH Daryl

    Silver FFA Ring

I was in FFA (Future Farmers Of America) when I was in high school in the late 1960's. You could still purchase them at that time. Almost everyone in the class had one. They probably only cost 5 or 10 dollars back then.

Went On A short Hunt Today - Round Brown Spots Everywhere

I posted this on the P.A.T.H. forum since I am a club member but thought it might appropriate to post it here also. I've been waiting two months for enough rain to hunt a very old park that produces a good coin or two every trip. After yesterdays rains I decided to drive the 40 miles and check...

Went On A Short Hunt Today - Round Brown Areas Everywhere

I've been waiting two months for enough rain to hunt a very old park that produces a good coin or two every trip. After yesterdays rains I decided to drive the 40 miles and check it out this morning. There were round brown spots all over the park. It was disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if...

A Few Days In Southern Illinois

Star and I just got back from a two week stay in Southern Illinois. We had a family reunion to attend so we tent camped at Rend Lake while we were there. Fishing was great, but except for the small swimming beach at the lake it was just too dry to metal detect. Rend is an Army Corp lake so you...

    Masonic Token Picture

This is a picture of the copper masonic token I found the other day. It was a full 12 inches deep in a local park. The picture with the silver dollar is for size reference. Its a little larger than the dollar or almost 1 3/4 inches in diameter. The back of the token is blank.

Open Detectorist Dug Holes In The Park

Star and I were detecting in Bradley Park in Peoria Sunday. In one area we found quite a few open holes left by some metal detectorist. At a few we were able to replace the plug and stomp it down but I think the grass in the plugs had already died so it will leave a brown area in the lawn for...

    Sundays Hunt

Star and I spent about 9 hours Sunday hunting several lesser used areas of a Peoria park. In coins I found $3.55 to Stars $1.00 but as usual she made the better finds. My best finds were a one dollar George Washington coin and four wheat cents - 1919, 1936, 1946, and an unreadable date. Star...

    Masonic Token

Went to a local park and was digging clad and memorials yesterday evening and it was starting to get dark so I headed to my older coin area to try and get one good coin before I packed up to go home. Hit a good but very light signal that maxed the depth indicator on the detector. It was in the...

E-Trac lost all sound today - Any ideas?

I've only had this machine a couple months and love it. While using it today the audio started getting a static sound and finialy went totally silent. I tried changing battery packs and that didn't help. Everything else seems to work, just no sound. Any ideas on how to fix this before I have to...

    3 Nickel Pocket Spill

A no date buffalo, a 1936 buffalo, and a 1905 liberty head. All in the same hole. Nothing rare or unusual, but fun to find. Can't wait for some rain. Just got permission this morning to hunt a large 1880's country church yard. Daryl <img...
